SP as he is known to his close associates has dedicated his life to working within the system to bring geeky humor and science fiction points of view to the mindless minions in charge of providing the freedoms, security and infrastructure to our lives. Given the opportunity, SP would gladly slip through the Stargate to begin colonizing a new planet and living the Little House On The Prairie life or suit up to mine the solar system's asteroids for precious metals, gems and hidden signs of ancient advanced societies. SP has a lifelong fascination with geeky shows, advanced technologies, revolutionary science and apocalyptic tales.

Stephen ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Stephen is a west coast Canadian who enjoys pretty much all things geeky. Whether it's podcasting, playing with tech or just watching a great re-run of Star Trek, Stephen is probably interested in it. GonnaGeek is the brain child of Stephen. You see, for years he has helped run a variety of specific genre websites (such as comics, Star Trek, etc) but sometimes he found himself needing to talk more than just comics... that's why he created GonnaGeek. Stephen is currently the Producer, Editor and a Co-Host of the Official GonnaGeek.com Show (www.gonnageek.com/show/) and Better Podcasting (www.betterpodcasting.com). He also runs www.thepodcastforum.com

    Gents,
I rushed home and fired up a private chrome browser and typed in “Ask the Podcast Coach” waiting to see my Libsyn feed come up in the search results. I’m on page three with no luck. What were your typing in to get the RSS to show up in a google search?

  2. Stephen Stephen says:

Hey hey, Dave! Thanks again for listening to the show, we greatly appreciate it. I don’t know about you but as someone also long in the website building game, this RSS indexing thing actually has me weirdly excited. I always love seeing major changes by Google because I know that there’s been a ridiculous amount of money put in to analyzing the change, and it means there is some form of mysterious reasons that Google knows about on why the change happened. I love to just speculate and speculate on why (well at least speculate in my head) :D

To better answer your question – the first link in the links above (http://www.geeks.link/googlerss) is to the companion article where I included screenshots. The ones in-line are google.ca incognito and then at the bottom are Firefox Private Mode and then Google.com Incognito. I didn’t want to get too technical on the podcast but I know you like techy so I’ll share with you here. At work all my traffic is routed through Quebec (Google will actually show that on the bottom) and that’s where I first noticed it was there too – so I’ve seen the results both through Quebec and BC. :)

I hope the screenshots in the article help too. Thanks again for listening.

  3. Stephen Stephen says:

Ok – your post got me looking more. I just discovered a site that called https://isearchfrom.com/ which seems to help make Google think you’re elsewhere. I just spot-tested Seattle, Orlando and Dallas and they did appears on page 3 – two had it as the third results down, one was the second. This is in-line with my previous couple tests that the result did move a bit depending on the location, but still relatively the same. Also, SP confirmed similar results too which are also at the bottom of the companion article.

Can’t wait to see what else Google does with this indexing – I’m intrigued. :)
