Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

On today’s episode, the guys discuss smart bandages, data security with fitness apps, and Captain Marvel. They also play a might game of Movie Quote Madness, and decide who to recast in some of their favorite films. Who ya gonna call? GOOSE BUSTERS!

Facebook Bug Accidentally Unblocks Blocked People for around 800K Users

It’s hard to believe it, but it’s true. Facebook had a privacy issue again. This time, there was a software bug that was active between May 29th and June 5th, which accidentally unblocked people who were previously blocked for around 800,000 users.

The rise of the Smart Bandage

According the an article on Engadget, researchers are working to refine a smart bandage that will monitor and treat chronic or slow healing wounds. A process which they hope will reduce amputations.

Polar Fitness App a huge security risk?

It seems like the popular fitness app has made it pretty simple to get some detailed information of any of it’s users. Including active soldiers on active foreign military bases, potentially compromising extremely sensitive data.

Billy Dee Williams to Return as Lando Calrissian in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Billy Dee Williams is poised to break out the capes as Lando Calrissian once again. The actor, who originated the role of the suave intergalactic gambler in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, will return to the role for J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode IX.

‘Captain Marvel’ Will Digitally De-Age Samuel L. Jackson by 25 Years

We’ve known for a while now that Marvel’s upcoming Captain Marvel takes place in the 1990s, which is how it avoids all the Infinity War stuff that’s happened. It will be an origin story for Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), an air force pilot who gets embroiled in the middle of an intergalactic war between alien races the Kree and the Skrull and ends up gaining superpowers. We also knew that familiar Marvel faces Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) were on board, but how would Marvel be handling the looks of these characters? Through digital de-aging.

Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime Says Super Mario Movie Will Appeal To Everyone

Better Podcasting #138 – Video Podcasts: Reloaded

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

By listener request, we’re talking about video podcasts again. A lot has changed since we last spoke (episode 14, 15, 16, 17) which is why this week we’re giving an overview of the information we think is most relevant to podcasters wanting to start doing video.

In this week’s Better Podcasting Download we discuss a Google Podcasts issue Stephen encountered, a weird RSS thing that happened with Castbox and how Anchor changed their terms of service.

Finally, in this week’s Better podback, we talk about the theory of a “Netflix of podcasting”.

Not familiar with Better Podcasting? We’re a podcast that provides podcasting advice focused toward hobby podcasters. We focus on the ways that you can help make your podcast better while also keeping you informed about the latest podcast news and updates.

Episode 081 “Ad-pocalypse and Lightsabers vs Vibranium”

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

This week Segway shows us the Drift W1 E-Skates, Spotify taking a run at Apple, Halo to hit Showtime with a new TV series, a super geeky “Geek Off” where we debate a Lightsaber vs Vibranium and then George R.R. Martin has time to write lists of book recommendations but no time to finish his own book, but his lists are decent.

Segway announces plans for the Drift W1

With the rise in popularity of electronic transportation, we’re talking hoverboards, powered skateboards, etc. why not strap some robot tech to your feet with Segway’s new E-Skates!

RAMpage hits Android

It’s been a while, but we’ve got some new hacking news. The RAMpage attack seems to be hitting Android devices from 2012 forward and could potentially lead to more stolen information.

Is Spotify gearing up to become more than a music provider?

By hiring a new Chief Content Officer with a background as a television and video executive, Spotify may be starting to show their hand in terms of some pretty wide media ambitions. News came out that Podcasts were already on top of their goal list recently, but could they be looking to be a serious competitor in the media arena? Do they have sights set on Apple and iTunes domination?

Showtime to make a Halo TV Series

Fans of the Halo game series on XBox have something new to look forward to as Showtime looks to give Halo the Premium Cable treatment in an all new series. With a movie that never happened and a failed digital series, will the third time be a charm for the Master Chief? Related – if you haven’t seen it, check out Forward Unto Dawn, a live action web series turned feature film.

MoviePass Tries A Financial Hail Mary To Keep Itself Afloat

There’s no doubt about it: MoviePass is bleeding cash, and there’s no guarantee that a growing subscriber base or investors (who are increasingly jittery) will keep it going. And that, in turn, is leading it to consider more drastic measures. MoviePass parent company Helios and Matheson Analytics has filed a statement with the SEC to let it sell as much as $1.2 billion in equity and debt securities over the next three years.

George R.R. Martin Suggests Books To Read This Summer

The problem is that his next book is not on the list. While he continues to disappoint fans with the massive delay, there are some pretty great books that Geeks everywhere should check out.
