Legends Podcast #422; Guardians (Russia)

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

There was an idea. To make a Russian knockoff of The Avengers! 2017’s Guardians was not a box office hit, but it represented an original attempt to recreate some of the success of American superhero films, typified by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for another nation’s audience. Using archetypes from the comic book genre, Guardians assembles a fantastic group of individuals with superhuman abilities, and pits them against a mad scientist bent on world domination. Sound familiar? In the end, does Guardians manage tear down this wall of cliches, or do all of its superheroics get lost in translation?

Just Put a TARDIS On It

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

On a quiet Whovian news week, we test our memory of dialogue, trying to remember which character uttered a particular statement from the modern episodes. From phrases that could easily be a number of Doctor’s regenerations, to companions that seem to make very similar observations, Keir puts on his ill-fitting gamekeeper’s hat, and puts Jay and Haley to the test.

It’s the final show before a brief hiatus.  This week Anthony has the new intel about the next killer to be added to Dead By Daylight, Chris has the latest rumors on a rumored Matrix sequel and Willie shares his thoughts on the new IT trailer.  The boys also try to explain why Anthem and the Games As A Service model is flawed for certain types of gamers.

The show is going on a brief two week break.  Don’t worry though the ATGN crew will be back on June 2 with another brand new episode.

Legends Podcast #421; Avengers: Endgame (Marvel)

Facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditlinkedinmail

There was an idea. To make a movie franchise last for twenty-two movies over ten years, building an interconnected universe based on comic book heroes, and culminating in an epic two-film story. And then there was an idea, in first half of that culminating story, to kill off half of those heroes – along with the rest of the universe. Avengers: Endgame snapped into theaters last week with massive expectations and even bigger box office results. Currently sitting at number two, worldwide, of all time, Endgame also earned rave reviews from critics and fans. The hosts of Legends Podcast assemble to talk about what might just be the most legendary movie ever. We’re in the Endgame now!

Classic Rewatch: The Invisible Enemy

We didn’t have particular concerns about jumbo shrimp until this Season 15 story came around. Now we feel a bit ‘nerve-ous’ around them. (Get it? Brain? Nerve? *sigh*)
