Chris Ferrell is a long time fan of a variety of so called nerdy things. Growing up he was introduced to Star War, Star Trek, and Babylon 5 by his father. That grew into a love of just about all Sci Fi and fantasy. Add in his fanboy nature when it comes to comics and Chris probably has too many things he's interested in.

Nowadays Chris espouses his love for all things good and nerdy in both podcast and blogging forms. Chris is a staff writer at Gonna Geek. In addition to that he is the co-host of a bunch of podcasts. Basically, if you want to hear someone ramble about nerdy things, Chris can do it.

SP as he is known to his close associates has dedicated his life to working within the system to bring geeky humor and science fiction points of view to the mindless minions in charge of providing the freedoms, security and infrastructure to our lives. Given the opportunity, SP would gladly slip through the Stargate to begin colonizing a new planet and living the Little House On The Prairie life or suit up to mine the solar system's asteroids for precious metals, gems and hidden signs of ancient advanced societies. SP has a lifelong fascination with geeky shows, advanced technologies, revolutionary science and apocalyptic tales.

Season 1 Episode 10 “Progeny” (Date: 31 Mar 2016)

  1. Kasnia: Kasnia (sometimes Kaznia) is a fictional DC Comics nation-state that’s sometimes used as a stand-in for Balkan nations like Yugoslavia.
  2. Per Degaton: Per Degaton is a longtime DC Comics supervillain, who has battled against the Justice Society, Infinity Inc. and the Time Masters in the comics.  His most notable appearances  were as a member of an organization called the Time Stealers, who opposed Booster Gold and Rip Hunter and tried to take over Vanishing Point.
  3. Armageddon Virus: No Armageddon virus” in DC lore but there’s Moritcoccus, a mutated offshoot of the OMAC virus sent back from the future. It’s the deadliest virus known to human history.  There’s also Armageddon 2001, a crossover event from the ’90s…
  4. “Would you kill Hitler” trope: You get the old “would you kill Hitler?” trope a lot in this episode…almost literally, since Per Degaton is a Nazi in the comics.
  5. Coast City reference: Hawkman makes a Coast City reference in Flashback.  Coast City, of course, is the home to Green Lantern in the comics. It’s been frequently referenced in all of the CW/DC shows.
  6. Star Labs: Wells’s company eventually recovers from the damage to its reputation and bottom line done by the particle accelerator explosion.
  7. White Dwarf Star Reference: White Dwarf Star material is what Ray Palmer uses in the comics (and on TV) to power his size-changing belt..
  8. Hannibal Lecter reference: When asked to give a name, Ray identifies himself as Dr. Hannibal Lecter..
  9. Young Aldus Boardman: In Kendra’s flashback timeline, we get to see the young Aldus Boardman, the son of Hawkgirl and Hawkman, who lived his childhood on the run from Vandal Savage until Savage found and killed Boardman’s parents.
