ARROW NEWS:

  1. Spoiler Room: Scoop on The Flash, Once Upon a Time, Supergirl, and more (Date: 10 Feb 2017)
Will Oliver find out what’s really going on with Felicity on Arrow soon? —
Not for several episodes, but you may be surprised by his reaction. “He knows that she’s into something, and he knows that she doesn’t want to tell him about it, so he’s dealing with that in his own way,” Stephen Amell tells me. “For Felicity, it’s not something that she and Oliver discuss until they have what is actually an adult conversation about it in [a future episode].”
Did you get any Flash scoop on Killer Frost? —
When asked how Cisco would try to help Caitlin quell her Killer Frost tendencies, Carlos Valdes dropped a truth bomb: “Caitlin has some secrets of her own that are going to come to light and are going to change not just the dynamic of the team, but also her own feelings about her dynamic within the team,” he says. “It all comes to a head.” Make of that what you will.

  2. Vigilante Attacks Oliver Queen in “Fighting Fire With Fire” (Date: 10 Feb 2017)
He’s gone after Team Arrow before — but always in the name of his own ultra-violent code of justice. So why is Vigilante trying to kill Mayor Oliver Queen? Fans will find out on March 1, when the DC antihero returns to menace city hall. Synopsis: Oliver (Stephen Amell) faces his biggest challenge yet as mayor. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) continues down her dark path with Helix. After Vigilante attacks Oliver while he’s acting as the mayor, Diggle (David Ramsey) leads the team in a mission to stop Vigilante once and for all.

  3. Arrow Showrunners On Why They Wanted To Do A Gun Violence Episode (Date: 12 Feb 2017)
“Well, we went into season 5 wanting to do an episode about an issue,” Guggenheim said during a screening of the episode. “I’m old, so what does this mean? It means that I grew up on St. Elsewhere and Picket Fences and LA Law. I grew up in a time where it was commonplace, like literally every week, for a one-hour drama to tackle the issues of the day. Somewhere along the line we got away from that — like, the whole industry got away from that. And now you’ve got like Blackish and Carmichael Show, but as far as network dramas are concerned? Really not tackling current events, current issues. So we went into season 5 with the desire to. It’s the fifth season; we’ve hopefully earned the freedom to, in 23 episodes of television, you can have 22 episodes of candy and one episode of vegetables. We sort of felt that gun violence felt like the right topic, because of its topicality but also because of the level of gun violence that’s on Arrow. We could have done an episode on abortion, but that’s not really where the show lives, so gun violence sort of felt like the right thing to tackle.”

  4. Arrow Boss Explains Thea’s Absence, Obstacle Facing Laurel’s Next Return (Date: 14 Feb 2017)
“Everyone’s like, ‘Where’s Thea? Where’s Thea?’ Willa’s [contracted for] 14 out of 23 episodes this year,” Guggenheim revealed. “She’s not in all 23. That’s not her contract. We’ve had to write around that.” Contractual matters also may prove a hurdle in bringing Katie Cassidy back for another encore as one Laurel or another, even though Cassidy (as reported over the summer) entered the season with one of those #DCTV-wide deals that theoretically would allow her to pop up on Arrow or any of its many offspring.
“We have an idea for how to see [Katie] again, but we haven’t made a deal with her,” Guggenheim shared. “She’s not a series regular anymore, so we have to make a contract with her, and she’s got to be available. We haven’t had those conversations. But… we know exactly what we do want to do.

  5. Will Arrow Bring Back Suicide Squad Characters? Here’s What David Ramsey Says (Date: 13 Feb 2017)
David Ramsey recently spoke with CinemaBlend about all things John Diggle, and he told me this about Digg’s future with the Suicide Squad on Arrow: “I can say that we have all the elements. Part of what John Diggle brings to the team is his relationship with ARGUS through his wife Lyla. We’re waiting to see how that plays itself out. Diggle was freed last week, and Oliver said to him ‘You can go home and hug your wife and son.’ So that’s a real viable part of Diggle that we have always seen on camera, but it would be nice to see more because he’s married to the leader of the Suicide Squad. What does that play out? How does that look? What are those conversations like? We have all the elements of it… I think we have the makings of it. ARGUS is a real viable part of our whole universe, of Legends, Flash, and Arrow. And Diggle just so happens to be married to the leader of ARGUS, so it’s right there ready for the picking.”

  6. Arrow EPs Tease Thea’s Role Going Forward in Season 5 (Date: 15 Feb 2017)
“She’s headed in a direction that’s very similar to where her mother was before she was killed in Season 2. We’re excited about it.” revealed Wendy Mericle. “I’m actually really excited about her storyline because we’re taking her to a place where she’s been dealing with all of these issues the same way Oliver has, with her bloodlust and with her other elements of her past. And this season’s going to find her in a similar place but for very different reasons. There’s gonna be a great scene coming up between Oliver and Thea that’s one of my favorites on the show.”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/16/arrow-thea-queen-willa-holland-season-five/
  7. Arrow EP Teases Prometheus’s Next Move (Date: 15 Feb 2017)
According to one of the show’s executive producers, however, that is all about to change with next week’s episode, entitled ‘The Sin-Eater’. Marc Guggenheim recently revealed that not only will the villain appear in the February 22nd episode, but his past actions will start to connect. Guggenheim wants fans to keep an eye out for the conclusion of the episode, as it will particularly reveal parts of the villain’s motive. “The episode ends, I think, with sort of the next key move in Prometheus’ grand plan.”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/16/arrow-marc-guggenheim-prometheus/
  8. Arrow EP: Oliver Will Make Star City Better — As Mayor (Date: 15 Feb 2017)
“One of the things we went into season five with the mindset of is Oliver’s mayor, so without it turning into The West Wing, how are we going to find ways to have Oliver be active as mayor, and to everyone’s surprise, be a good mayor, end up being a good mayor,” explained executive producer Marc Guggenheim during a screening of tonight’s episode, “Spectre of the Gun.” “And you’ll start to see, actually – and this is true in next week’s episode, in episode 14 – Thea’s going to make a good case to Oliver, of all people, for all the things he’s accomplished as mayor, and you start to see like, oh wait, in the first 13 episodes, he actually kind of did some stuff. And he’s not done yet. Obviously, the season’s not done yet. But we definitely went into the season with the goal of showing that Oliver is actually much better at this job than you might expect.”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/15/arrow-ep-oliver-will-make-star-city-better–as-mayor/
  9. Arrow: Marc Guggenheim On What Makes Oliver Different From his Villains (Date: 15 Feb 2017)
This season on Arrow, Ollie has been even more affected by that conundrum. He constantly finds himself toe-ing the line between what’s right and wrong. According to Marc Guggenheim, Oliver is going to continue that struggle throughout this season. Not only will the rest of this season see Oliver explore that struggle, but the show will also explore what that means for Arrow’s entire world. “One of the things we are doing in the back half of Season 5 is really getting underneath that and what that means, not just in terms of morality but in terms of psychology — specifically Oliver’s psychology. There’s things about Oliver’s killing that you have yet to learn.”

  10. The New Black Canary Gets A Mask In These New Images From Next Week’s ARROW (Date: 16 Feb 2017)
With Laurel Lance unlikely to return at any point in the near future, Dinah Drake looks set to take over the Black Canary mantle in Arrow. However, The CW series is taking a slow burn approach to that, but she finally gets a mask in these new images.

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. THE FLASH SET PHOTOS HINT AT MUSICAL’S 1940s SETTING (Date: 11 Feb 2017)
The latest photos from the British Columbia set of “The Flash” suggest the musical crossover with “Supergirl” may partly take place during the 1940s. Snapped on the streets of New Westminster, a city just southeast of Vancouver, the images reveal rows of 1940s-era automobiles, as well as actors Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber and John Barrowman in period attire. According to Hollywood North.Buzz, the scenes were to involve car chases with gangsters, but no singing.

  2. The Flash: First Look at Grodd’s Nemesis Solovar! (Date: 16 Feb 2017)
The CW has now released a new batch of photos from “Attack on Gorilla City,” including the first two images of Solovar. As you can see, Solovar — who is being voiced by Keith David (The Thing, Community) — is being depicted as a giant, white gorilla. That’s a noticeable departure from his comic book counterpart, who looks like a regular gorilla but wears a fancy red cape. Created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino, Solovar made his first appearance in The Flash #106 alongside Gorilla Grodd and Pied Piper.

  2. DC Rebirth: [SPOILER] Returns in Batman and the Flash’s Watchmen Crossover Mystery (Date: 13 Feb 2017)
A mysterious figure in Superman, a mysterious button in the Flash, a returning Wally West in Titans, and an imprisoned Legionnaire in Batman have all contributed clues to the overall mystery, but we’ve yet to see any answers. That’s all set to change with a crossover between the Batman and Flash titles, with Tom King, Jason Fabok, Joshua Williamson, and Howard Porter all set to put the world’s greatest detectives on a path to find out the significance of that blood-stained smiley face. The crossover begins April 19 in Batman #21.

  3. DC Comics To Pay 50% Of Comic Store Ads Playing In Their Local Cinemas (Date: 15 Feb 2017)
DC is working with media buyers National CineMedia (NCM) to help promote comics shops in their local cinemas. NCM will help stores tag their details onto a 15 or 30 second DC Universe: Rebirth ad and place it before appropriate movies playing. Stores can then submit expenses to DC Comics to get reimbursements of up to half their costs.

  2. ARROW’S RAMSEY SAYS PROMETHEUS IS THE ‘CLEAR & PRESENT DANGER’ (Date: 08 Feb 2017)
Speaking to CBR, Ramsey discussed how jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire makes Dig feel right at home as a soldier and a serviceman. He also teased Dig’s friendship with Dinah Drake, the new Black Canary, as well as the looming threat of General Walker and Team Arrow’s visit to Russia. About his role in the team, he said, “He’s a serviceman. He’s a soldier. He’s the guy who lays on a grenade. So that’s what he immediately gets to. He gets to helping Dinah. He gets back to helping the team. He sees that Felicity is compromised, and he calls her on it immediately. Before he gets back out on the field — which he does! — we’ll see him kind of getting back to service, of being a help, which is in the best possible way I could say that… but the moral help, I should say. The moral compass. And the team needs it. When he comes back, the team needs it. Dinah needs it, and Felicity particularly needs it.”

  3. WATCH: MARK HAMILL VOICES SWAMP THING IN JUSTICE LEAGUE ACTION CLIP (Date: 03 Feb 2017)
It’s a regular plant versus zombies brawl in a new clip for Cartoon Network’s “Justice League Action” television series, which pits Swamp Thing against Solomon Grundy. And, no, your ears don’t deceive you — that’s Mark Hamill of “Star Wars” and “Batman: The Animated Series” fame providing the sweet, weedy vocals for the marshland’s defender. The clip, from the show’s upcoming “Zombie King” episode, shows Solomon Grundy getting ready to march on a nearby city, having raised an army of the undead. “Zombie King” airs on Cartoon Network on Saturday, February 4 at 7:30 AM. “Justice League Action” is a production of Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment starring Kevin Conroy, Rachel Kimsey and Jason J. Lewis.

  4. BLACK LIGHTNING LANDS OFFICIAL PILOT ORDER AT THE CW (Date: 03 Feb 2017)
The CW just snagged its fifth superhero property. Variety reports Greg Berlanti’s “Black Lightning” just received an official pilot order from the network. According to the report, The CW will stagger their superhero programming throughout the year to avoid scheduling five straight nights of supehero series. “I don’t think so,” Berlanti said at the time. “If we’re lucky enough that that exists, that that show exists, I don’t think those worlds will cross over.” However, seeing as the pilot has just shifted from Fox to The CW, it’s hard to rule anything out.

  5. FLASH/SUPERGIRL CROSSOVER SET PHOTOS OFFER FIRST LOOK AT MUSIC MEISTER (Date: 05 Feb 25017)
New photos from the Vancouver set of “The Flash”/“Supergirl” musical crossover reveal the first glimpses of “Glee” veteran Darren Criss as the villainous Music Meister. The set photos depict not only Criss but also Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Carlos Valdes as Vibe. Titled “Duet,” the crossover will kick off March 20 with a lead-in on “Supergirl,” similar to how the setup for last fall’s “Invasion!” was handled, and then continue on the March 21 episode of “The Flash.”

  6. To Celebrate The Release Of THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, DC TV Shows Get A LEGO Makeover (Date: 06 Feb 2017)
The LEGO Batman Movie is receiving rave reviews, and it appears as if Warner Bros. is going all out this week to give it one final promotional push. That involves giving a LEGO makeover to many of their hit TV shows, and below you’ll find Minifigure versions of characters from Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, and Supergirl. Disappointingly, the eclectic cast of Legends of Tomorrow hasn’t been included here.

  7. WATCH: LEGO BATMAN MOVIE CROSSES OVER WITH CW’S ARROWVERSE (Date: 07 Feb 2017)
A new TV spot features Will Arnett’s LEGO Batman dropping in on a quartet of Arrowverse heroes (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and the Atom). Their meeting isn’t so much epic as…well, confusing. That’s because the gang learns that while Batman may be an unparalleled detective, he’s apparently not the world’s greatest speller.

  8. SUPERGIRL PROMO TEASES DEBUT OF LEX LUTHOR’S ICONIC WARSUIT (Date: 07 Feb 2017)

At 12 seconds into the promo below, you catch a glimpse of what appears to be Lex Luthor’s iconic green and purple warsuit. LENA IS ARRESTED – After Metallo (guest star Frederick Schmidt) breaks out of prison and frees Lillian Luthor (guest star Brenda Strong), the police blame Lena (guest star Katie McGrath) for his escape and arrest her. Despite overwhelming evidence, Kara (Melissa Benoist) refuses to believe her friend is guilty and fights to clear Lena’s name. Flashbacks reveal how Lena came to be a Luthor. 9. The Flash: Speedster Returns and Confronts Savitar in New Set Video (Date: 06 Feb 2017)
We knew — based on the “Attack on Gorilla City” synopsis — that fan-favorite speedster Jesse Quick was coming back from Earth-2 for the Grodd-centric episode (airing Feb. 21), seeking help from her Earth-1 friends with her father’s abduction. However, we didn’t know that she would return in another future episode (or perhaps just stick around after the Grodd episode) and confront the god of speed.

  11. DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow Changes Season 2 Finale Date (Date: 09 Feb 2017)
The second season finale was initially expected to air on Tuesday, March 28th, following an episode of The Flash. But thanks to some reworking of The CW’s schedule, the finale episode will air the following Tuesday, April 4th. The most interesting thing about this is that Legends will air in The Flash’s timeslot on April 4th, and will be followed by the third season premiere of iZombie.

GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS

  1. Green Arrow Vs The Flash (Date: 05 Feb 2017)
DC is trying a new thing on their Youtube channel. They call it Versus, where they pit one character against the other. But instead of something like Super Hero Beatdown where we see the actual fight, this is more giving the histories and strengths of the characters and letting the fans decide. For their first episode they’ve decided to pit the Emerald Archer versus the Scarlet Speedster.

  2. DC Rebirth Returned… A Lot (Date: 06 Feb 2017)
On the official monthly statistics, Diamond reduces the statistical data of comics that have been designated returnable, by 10%. This indicates that Diamond expect a certain amount of returnability, but not that much. Well, it seems that DC Comics seems to have overdone it this time. They made the first six issues of all the DC Rebirth twice-monthly launch comics returnable, more than ever before. Ostensibly to allow retailers to find a ceiling limit on sales to customers, to not have to order conservatively, and to be confident in ordering big. Which has allowed certain titles that had slipped away in recent years, specifically Superman and Flash, to find an appreciative audience. However, there is a cost for that kind of thing. And while sales of DC Comics are also up, so is the returnability, at record high levels, and something DC and Diamond didn’t anticipate. Which is why those pallet photos are meant to be quite a revelation. Could this be why the Diamond 2016 end-of-year statistics have been so delayed?

CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES

Season Episode  “Second Chances” (Date: 01 Feb 2017)
Article: http://comicbook.com/2017/02/02/arrow-easter-eggs-and-things-you-might-have-missed-in-second-cha/

  1. HUB CITY – Hub City, a fictional city in the DC Universe, is best known as the home to The Question, a self-taught urban shaman. The last time we saw the city on Arrow was when Esrin Fortuna helped Oliver take on Damien Darhk…and of course, when Hub City started to show up in showrunner Marc Guggenheim’s tweets this year, there was plenty of speculation that he was teasing The Question. Turns out, he was teasing the Black Canary!
  2. BIG BELLY BURGER – Big Belly Burger, a fictional fast-food restaurant in the DC Universe, is the fast food of choice for people who are in hiding, in jail, or otherwise cut off from the world on The Flash. Here, we saw Team Arrow hanging out there in Hub City while Felicity got it delivered to her in the Arrowcave during her side quest.
  3. FAMILY SECRET – When Talia refers to her agelessness as a “family secret,” it’s the kind of cutesy clue that Nyssa used to drop in her early appearances, where she didn’t directly name-drop Ra’s al Ghul or the Lazarus Pit, but made references that were pretty clear to people in the know. Back then, of course, we always wondered whether Ra’s would ever make an appearance. Now, he’s come and gone, and we know that this kind of vague dialogue is mostly to keep continuity tidy so that Oliver doesn’t realize exactly who he’s dealing with when Ra’s and Nyssa come in later.
  4. THE FLASH & CAPTAIN SINGH – In what Marc Guggenheim tweeted was the quickest crossover Arrow has ever done with The Flash, we got to see Barry speed (in costume) into his boss’s office to vouch for Green Arrow. What’s nice to see is Captain Singh, Barry’s boss, who hasn’t been seen much this season. It felt a bit like last night, when the long-absent Miss Tessmacher from Supergirl had a quick cameo on The Flash.
  5. SONUS – Sean Sonus, alias Discord is a sonic villain who fights Green Arrow and Black Canary. He first appeared in Green Arrow and Black Canary #15, and was co-created by Arrow EP Andrew Kreisberg and artist Mike Norton.
  6. DINAH DRAKE – “Dinah Drake” is actually the name of the original/Earth-2 Black Canary, who existed in the comics before Dinah Lance did.

ARROW NEWS:

  1. New Arrow Episode Gets A Russian Title As It Begins Production (Date: 30 Jan 2017)
Marc Guggenheim, the show’s executive producer, shared a cover of the new episode’s script, and let fans know that it was beginning production. Episode 17 will be titled ‘Kapot’, which is a Russian word meaning ‘cowl’ or ‘hood’.

  2. ARROW SYNOPSIS TARGETS WILD DOG’S ORIGIN STORY (Date: 27 Jan 2017)
Spectre of the Gun” — WILD DOG’S HISTORY IS REVEALED — A traumatic attack on City Hall triggers painful memories for Rene (Rick Gonzalez) about his family. Flashbacks reveal how Rene went from simple family man to a hero named Wild Dog. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) must deal with the perpetrator behind the attack and realizes the best way to do so is as Mayor Queen instead of the Green Arrow. Tensions run high in the Arrow bunker. Kristin Windell directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim (#513). Original airdate 2/15/2017

  3. Matt’s Inside Line: Scoop on Bones, Arrow, The 100, Once, Elementary, Suits, Little Liars, NCIS: LA and More (Date: 31 Jan 2017)
Have we seen the last of Evelyn/Artemis on Arrow?
Actually, when TVLine last spoke to Wendy Mericle, the Arrow scribes were in the midst of hashing out a return scenario for Little Miss Benedict Arnold. “We have a really cool, exciting twist for how she’s going to reappear,” the EP teased, noting: “The interesting thing about the choices Evelyn has made is that as much as she took the moral high ground when confronting Oliver, she has allied herself with someone who is even worse,” in Prometheus. “She’s gone from the frying pan into the fire.”

  4. Wayback Wednesday: Watch The First Ever Trailer For Arrow (Date: 01 Feb 2017)
In honor of Wayback Wednesday – and a brand new episode of Arrow tonight – it’s about time to take a look back at the first ever trailer for Arrow. This footage was seen in 2012, and it talked a lot about Oliver Queen’s return to the real world, after he was thought to be dead. The trailer shows Oliver on the island, beard and all, as well as his assimilation back into society.

  5. ARROW: TINA BOLAND’S REAL NAME WILL BE FAMILIAR TO DC COMICS FANS (Date: 01 Feb 207)
“Tina Boland” is her undercover name; her real name is Dinah Drake. If that sounds familiar, that’s because Dinah Drake is the name of the original Black Canary. Dinah debuted in 1947’s “Flash Comics” #86 as Black Canary. Later, she married a man named Larry Lance and subsequently changed her name to Dinah Lance. Inspired by Dinah, her daughter Dinah Laurel Lance would go on to become a founding member of the Justice League. When the New 52 restarted DC Comics’ continuity, the Black Canary legacy was retconned, and Dinah Drake was restored as the one and only Black Canary. This New 52 version of Dinah Drake was formerly married to Kurt Lance, but the two divorced.

  6. Arrow: What is Helix? (Date: 01 Feb 2017)
Helix was a supervillain group led by Dr. Benjamin Love, aka Mr. Bones. The members were six mutated children who had been experimented on and then kidnapped by Love. They grew up to be a rather bizarre cast of characters, including Kritter (a human/dog hybrid) and Baby Boom (a young child who can cause explosions with her mind). It’s safe to assume that any future appearances of Helix will certainly be way more grounded in reality – with any mention of the original characters probably being used as online screennames. This is similar to the inclusion of the secret organization Shadowspire in Arrow, which was given a much more realistic makeover. When recently discussing the dynamic between Felicity and Diggle going forward, Arrow executive-producer Wendy Mericle mentioned that the events in ‘Second Chances’ will play into the rest of the season. “Part of what kicks [Felicity] off down this darker path is she’s going to find evidence to exonerate him — and [Diggle’s] going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him.” With that in mind, there’s a very good chance that tonight’s episode will not be the last time we hear of Helix on Arrow.

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. SUPERGIRL & MARTIAN MANHUNTER UNITE ON ‘MARTIAN CHRONICLES’ POSTER (Date: 29 Jan 2017)
Unveiled by David Harewood, the teaser for “The Martian Chronicles” depicts the actor as Martian Manhunter alongside Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, accompanied by the tagline, “Worlds Clash. Heroes Unite.” In the episode, a White Martian arrives in National City to capture M’gann and return her to Mars, where she’s to be punished as a traitor. Unwilling to allow that to happen, Hank Henshaw and Supergirl bring M’gann to the Department of Extra-Normal Operations for protection, only for circumstances to turn from bad to worse.

  2. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow boss on crossovers ahead (Date: 26 Jan 2017)
“We’re going to be seeing the Black Flash on Legends,” Guggenheim says, reminding fans that Thawne is a member of the Legion of Doom. “Lily Stein, who was introduced in Flash 308, makes an appearance next week. So there’s a fair amount of Flash-ness going on in Legends. I wish I could say that we were so smart to take advantage of the new timeslot and do that, but we weren’t that smart. We just had already sort of been doing that organically anyway when we found out about the new timeslot. I will say this: There’s a love scene in episode 11 and we were in the editing room on it — it’s a love scene, it gets a little steamy — and I was joking, ‘Let’s take that 9 p.m. timeslot out for a spin.’” The article has the audio of the interview with Guggenheim.

  3. Two Speedsters Are Better Than One On This Electrifying New Poster For THE FLASH (Date: 29 Jan 2017)
While their partnership may have gotten off to a slightly rocky start in last week’s midseason premiere, it sounds like Barry is finally ready to take Wally under his wing over the course of the next few episodes, which should result in a lot of high-speed fun. As for when we’ll get to see the duo in action, it looks like episode twelve, titled “Untouchable,” is a good bet as it’ll feature a subplot with the Scarlet Speedster helping Kid Flash elevate his game to the next level. Check out the new “Lightning Strikes Twice” poster.

  4. The Flash: Robbie Amell teases his upcoming return (Date: 29 Jan 2017)
Earlier this month, EW exclusively revealed that Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash for an upcoming episode. Details on his return are still scarce, but the actor gave EW a little tease of what to expect. “I was there last week,” he shared at Honda’s “Hockey Goes Hollywood” event in Los Angeles. “I can tell you that my scenes are with Grant [Gustin] and Danielle [Panabaker]. And I may or may not be alive.” That last part is key, considering the last we saw of Ronnie, he died as a result of destroying the singularity that opened up the path to Earth-2, where that planet’s Ronnie was a villain named Deathstorm. Being back on Flash is always a treat for Amell, who got to catch up with his TV wife and former superhero partner and have his first true Ronnie and Barry scene.

  5. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW’S LETSCHER TEASES REVERSE FLASH’S PLAN, COLD’S RETURN (Date: 31 Jan 2017)
Speaking to CBR, Letscher teased Reverse Flash’s plan, and he promised that Thawne’s motivation would be “a major reveal” in the next episode of “Legends of Tomorrow.” Letscher also discussed the Legion’s dynamic, the upcoming return of Leonard “Captain Cold” Snart, Thawne’s important “foreknowledge” of events and more. When asked about Captain Cold, he said, “He is going to be a full-fledged member of the Legion of Doom and be very valuable to them on multiple fronts. Eobard has done his homework in this regard, and he’s recruited somebody who’s fully on board with the Legion of Doom’s mission and he also understands the complications that Captain Cold’s relationship with the Legends… the psychological complications that inform Eobard and his plans.”

  6. KEIYNAN LONSDALE TALKS WALLY’S TRANSFORMATION INTO KID FLASH (Date: 31 Jan 2017)
Interview with CBR. When asked about Savitar, he said, “Savitar is the biggest threat that any of them have faced. Fortunately, Barry doesn’t have to do this alone. He’s always had Team Flash. Other people are getting powers. It’s going to take everyone working together to stop him. Wally is super-crucial to that.” Also, he won’t be singing in the musical episode.

  7. Rachel Bloom Wrote A Song For “The Flash” / “Supergirl” Musical Episode (Date: 31 Jan 2017)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom has co-written a song for The CW’s upcoming musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, BuzzFeed News can exclusively reveal. She wrote “Super Friend,” which will be performed by Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist. The episode will also feature an original song written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen) called “Runnin’ Home to You” that Gustin will perform.

  8. ‘Supergirl’: Teri Hatcher Joins Season 2 In Mystery Role (Date: 31 Jan 2017)
Teri Hatcher, who starred as Lois Lane in ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, is returning to the DC Comics universe, joining the Season 2 cast of the CW’s Supergirl in a recurring role. Details of her character aren’t known, but it’s described by the CW as “a mysterious new role that will become the new Big Bad of Season 2.” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Hatcher’s casting, “No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg, and the fans.”

  9. ‘Black Lightning’ Drama Eyes Move To the CW To Join Greg Berlanti Comic Lineup (Date: 02 Feb 2017)
Deadline has learned that Black Lightning, the high-profile drama based on the DC character, which had a big production commitment at Fox, is on the move and likely to land at the CW. The project comes from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW’s DC universe. Fox brass ultimately decided that the superhero show was not a good fit. The CW is home of Berlanti Prods.’s four DC/WBTV superhero series —  Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, which Berlanti also co-created. That makes the network a suitable home for Black Lightning, which would give the CW’s DC universe its first major African American superhero. Black Lightning would be the only black superhero toplining his own broadcast series and the second currently on TV, joining Marvel’s Luke Cage on Netflix.

ARROW NEWS:

  1. Chris ARROW SENDS OLIVER BACK TO RUSSIA IN ‘BRATVA’ (Date: 21 Jan 2017)
he Feb. 8 episode of “Arrow” will see Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) head back to Russia to meet Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl). Queen has frequently used his Bratva connections to acquire information otherwise unavailable. There’s a good chance this episode, titled “Bratva,” will delve into those very mafia connections.“Bratva” will also address Quentin Lance’s (Paul Blackthorne) drug addiction and subsequent stint in rehab. Having just returned from rehab, Lance must come to terms with his past when reporter Susan Williams (Carly Pope) requests an interview regarding his drug habit. Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonzalez) must step in to make sure things stay on track.

  2. Chris ARROW’S TALIA AL GHUL WON’T BE A NYSSA KNOCKOFF (Date: 20 Jan 2017)
“She’s definitely her own person; she’s not a Nyssa clone, by any stretch,” Guggenheim explained. “You can definitely sense a familial resemblance. Having Ra’s al Ghul as your dad, it’s likely to forge a very specific kind of person. They’re close enough and different enough that I would love, at some point, to do a story with Nyssa and Talia. We’ll also be dealing very directly with the fairly obvious question, which is: Wait a second, when Oliver met Ra’s al Ghul, why didn’t he say, ‘Hey, wait a minute, I think I met your daughter back in Russia!’” he added.Talia will arrive in “Second Chances,” the “Arrow” episode airing February 1, though it seems as though she’ll only appear in the flashbacks in this particular episode.

  3. Arrow: First Look at Julia Harkavy as Possible [SPOILER] (Date: 25 Jan 2017)
Tina Boland, played by The Walking Dead’s Julia Harkavy, was revealed to have a sonic scream, which she used to take down misogynistic bikers at a Hub City bar. And in the promo for next week’s episode, titled ‘Second Chances’, it seems that the team tries to recruit Tina to become the new Black Canary. Whether or not Tina is convinced to become a vigilante – particularly Black Canary – is yet to be seen. While executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased that the events at the end of ‘Who Are You?’ “[lay] a very specific seed, with a very specific game plan on our part that we hope to see come to fruition.”

  4. Neil Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim On Making Curtis More Terrific, Turning Artemis Evil (Date: 25 Jan 2017)
Marc Guggenheim told Comicbook.com “If you’ve been watching the first nine episodes, he [Curtis] does have a tendency to get his ass kicked, as we kind of promised. As far as I’m concerned, turning Curtis Holt into a superhero is probably the biggest turn we’ve ever done on the show. Even more so than turning Laurel into the Black Canary. To my way of thinking, the only way you really earn that is if you show how difficult it is, and that means that Curtis ends up getting his ass kicked quite a bit. I think in episode 10, the mid-season premiere, he kind of hits bottom as far as his self-esteem is concerned, especially in light of the ultimatum that Paul gave him. Starting with episode 10 is his turn, I think, really more towards the Mr. Terrific we know from the comics.”

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW MUST PROTECT GEORGE WASHINGTON IN NEW SYNOPSIS (Date: 21 Jan 2017)
A revolution is headed to “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.” In “Turncoat,” the episode airing February 7, the team will head back to the year 1776 and find themselves embroiled in the Revolutionary War — and the aberration that brings them to that time will lead them directly to George Washington, the first president of the United States of America. The synopsis does include an important piece of information: the Waverider has been grounded. According to the synopsis, the Waverider is “incapacitated,” which likely means the Legends are stuck in whichever time they’ve landed in.

  2. THE FLASH TO INTRODUCE LIFE-DRAINING META-HUMAN IN ‘UNTOUCHABLE’ (Date: 20 Jan 2017)
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) will go up against a meta-human who can kill with just a touch in the February 7 episode of the CW’s “The Flash.” Matthew Kevin Anderson will guest star as Clive Yorkin, a meta-human serial killer who claims his victims by making them decompose at an accelerated rate. Fans of the “The Flash” comic book series will know stakes are high when Clive Yorkin is around. In the comics, Yorkin is a career criminal responsible for everything from robbery to murder. While imprisoned in solitary confinement, Yorkin is experimented on, causing the pleasure and pain receptors in his brain to be effectively reversed, and allowing him to drain the life essence from a person through touch.

  3. Neil SUPERGIRL: WHITE MARTIANS ATTACK IN NEW EPISODE SYNOPSIS (Date: 20 Jan 2017)
Try as she might, M’gann M’orzz can’t outrun her past. According to a new synopsis for “The Martian Chronicles,” the “Supergirl” episode that airs on February 6, the White Martians will track her down in order to try her as a traitor to Mars. However, they’ll have to get through Supergirl and Martian Manhunter first. Unlike her peers, M’gann showed remorse over the actions her people had taken against the Green Martians. As such, she escaped to Earth and hid out in Central City, acting as a bartender at Maggie Sawyer’s favorite dive bar. This way, she remained undiscovered — that is, until now.

  4. Chris FIRST DETAILS OF FLASH/SUPERGIRL MUSICAL EPISODE REVEALED (Date: 20 Jan 2017)
The musical episode is titled “Duet,” and will take place on the March 21 edition of “The Flash,” with a lead-in on the March 20 episode of “Supergirl,” similar to how last fall’s four-show crossover between The CW’s DC Comics-based shows kicked off with a short lead-in scene on “Supergirl.” This falls roughly a year after the first TV meeting between “The Flash” and “Supergirl,” which happened on the “Worlds Finest” episode of “Supergirl” in March 2016. “Duet” will be directed by Arrowverse veteran Dermott Downs, who has helmed multiple episodes of “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow.” The episode will include musical numbers from “The Flash” stars Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin and Carlos Valdes; “Supergirl” stars Melissa Benoist and Jeremy Jordan; and “Legends of Tomorrow” co-star Victor Garber and “Arrow” regular John Barrowman, showing that the episode will also include Arrowverse vets known for their singing chops, even if they aren’t part of the “Supergirl” and “Flash” casts.

  5. Neil FLASH / SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CASTS GLEE’S DARREN CRISS AS MUSIC MEISTER (Date: 23 Jan 2017)
This March’s musical crossover between “Supergirl” and “The Flash” is going to be one big “Glee” reunion. TVLine reports that Darren Criss, who rose to fame as Blaine Anderson on “Glee,” will appear as Music Meister in the two-episode crossover event.

  6. SUPERGIRL STAR SENDS A MESSAGE TO TRUMP AT MARCH ON WASHINGTON (Date: 21 Jan 2017)
Thousands of demonstrators descended today on Washington, D.C., for the Women’s March on Washington, just one day after the inauguration of President Donald Trump.Among the crowd in the nation’s capital, which organizers estimate could grow to as high as 500,000, is none other than “Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist, whose handmade sign sends a pointed message to the new president while giving a nod to her role as the Girl of Steel. The message of course refers refers to the widely publicized and condemned audio recording from Trump’s 2005 appearance on “Access Hollywood,” in which the former reality-TV star boasted about kissing women and grabbing their genitals.

  7. THE FLASH’S GYPSY MAY HAVE POWERS SIMILAR TO CISCO’S (Date: 21 Jan 2017)
When Gypsy arrives on “The Flash,” Cisco “Vibe” Ramon may just learn a thing or two about the way his own powers work. Executive producer Aaron Helbing said, “Gypsy is a very formidable adversary. He never realized the extent of his powers, and because of seeing Gypsy, he’s going to become more and more in tune with his powers and what he can do, whether it’s crossing dimensions or opening breaches much faster and quicker. He’s going to be building confidence, and that’ll definitely play into the rest of the season of helping Barry and the team stop Savitar from killing Iris.”

  8. Neil Supergirl plans Maggie/Alex-centric Valentine’s Day episode (Date: 24 Jan 2017)
Here’s what we know: Alex (Chyler Leigh) is super excited for her first Valentine’s Day with a girlfriend, but Maggie (Floriana Lima) is not keen on the Hallmark holiday, which leads to their first real fight. But Maggie will make it up to Alex by recreating a special night — note the corsage on her arm! Further details on the hour, like who else might be spending the holiday together, are being kept under wraps, but the Valentine’s Day episode will air on Feb. 13.

  10. Supergirl Just Made A Big Legion of Super-Heroes Nod and Basically Told Us What’s Up With Mon-El (Date: 23 Jan 2017)
Will Supergirl bring the Legion of Super-Heroes into the series? It certainly seems like it. Hell, even director Kevin Smith, who helmed tonight’s episode of The CW’s hit sophomore series, thinks so. Got Smith has got good reason to believe it: During the course of the episode, at one point a frustrated Mon-El calls out “grife!” That’s basically “Damn it!” In Legion-speak. The 31st Century team naturally have some slang that’s particular to them…although it could turn out that’s just a common exclamation in Interlac within the TV universe of Supergirl. That impression was rooted, in part, in the fact that fans have already seen evidence that the Legion not only exists in the world of Supergirl, but has a relationship with Superman. In the season 1 episode “Fortress,” Supergirl headed to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude for the first time and one of the first things the audience saw was a Legion of Super-Heroes flight ring mounted on a crystal dais inside. Lest you think that the “grife” was a clear indicator that Mon-El’s long-teased secret is just that he knows of the Legion, that’s probably not the case. When a Maaldorian was shooting at him, a Dominator stopped the shot, saying that Mon-El was to be spared. He then gave Mon-El a deep bow.

CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES

Season 02 Episode 03  “Shogun” (Date: 27 Oct 2016)
Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/10/28/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow-easter-eggs-and-things-you-might-have-mi/

  1. CITIZEN STEEL – In the comics, Nate Heywood has powers that up to this point had never been depicted onscreen. This time around, he got a version of the Steel powers — and, as in the comics, it comes from Nazis trying to take out the JSA who inadvertently provide him with abilities.
  2. TO BE MARRIED TOMORROW – The idea that the beautiful girl he happens upon is set to be married tomorrow to the Shogun — loosely translated as “Royal Ugly Dude” — feels like the kind of thing that pops up from time to time in time-travel fiction…but Bill & Ted is the most obvious one for us.
  3. LOST – “If I’ve learned one thing from Lost, it’s that you don’t go opening secret hatches.” This is one of a couple of not-so-subtle pop culture references this week. Typically those don’t make the “Easter eggs” lists, but we’re acknowledging more of them this year since last season we had lots of fans chiming in to let us know that we “missed” them in the comments. Obviously, that’s a reference to the long-running network drama LOST, one of the big mysteries of which revolved around a hatch into an underground chamber which, rather than providing the answers the characters hoped, only resulted in more questions.
  4. 2056 – There are a few superheroes — notably The Flash and Green Lantern — who have spent time in the not-too-distant future quite a bit in their careers, but the year 2056 doesn’t come up specifically in the comics. Where it does come up is in Young Justice, the animated series in which Barry Allen’s grandson Bart (Impulse/Kid Flash/Flash) played a key role. In that version of the story, Bart comes from a future where The Reach has conquered Earth and travels back in time to join Young Justice, which in part could potentially help to alter that dark future.
  5. MASTER YODA  – Of course, almost anyone would know that the reference to Ray Palmer’s “sensei” Yoda, who shared the wisdom “do or do not; there is no try,” is a nod to The Empire Strikes Back, in which the diminutive Jedi Master trained Luke Skywalker to harness the Force.
  6. THE SOULTAKER – It’s established by the end of the episode that the young woman Nate wanted to help was pretty capable of defending herself under normal circumstances. She’s from the clan Yamashiro, which if you don’t recognize, you ought to. Not only did her descendant Tatsu Yamashiro and her husband Maseo recur throughout season 3 of Arrow, but Tatsu also appeared in this summer’s Suicide Squad movie in her costumed identity as Katana. That sword? It’s the Soultaker which, in the comics and in the Suicide Squad movie, absorbs the soul energy of the people killed with it.

ARROW NEWS

  1. Marc Guggenheim reveals Ep 16 Title: Checkmate (Date: 19 Jan 2017)
    * The sixteenth episode of Arrow’s fifth season has gone into production, and  EP Marc Guggenheim has given some insight into what’s coming up with a peek at the episode’s title.
    * The episode is called “Checkmate,” which Guggenheim assures us that it does not refer to the spy agency formerly run by Maxwell Lord and Amanda Waller in the comics.

  2. ARROW SYNOPSIS TEASES PROPER INTRODUCTION FOR TALIA AL GHUL (Date: 14 Jan 2017)
Titled “Second Chances,” the Feb. 1 episode will see Oliver Queen team up with Talia in flashbacks in an effort to defeat Russian government strongman Kovar. TALIA AL GHUL TAKES OLIVER UNDER HER WING — In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). However, when she reveals what she wants from him in exchange, Oliver isn’t sure he can accept her help.

  3. Katrina Law On Whether ARROW Will Have A Nyssa And Talia Al Ghul Family Reunion (Date: 12 Jan 2017)
Katrina Law’s Nyssa al Ghul has yet to make an appearance in season 5 of Arrow but her sister, Talia, is set to appear soon, played by Lexa Doig.  Does that mean Nyssa will be returning as well? Cinemablend recently caught up with Law to discuss her role in the Training Day TV adaptation from CBS but also asked about a possible Arrow guest spot. “There’s always talk. Whether or not those talks will ever come to fruition is another matter, but I would love to have a reunion with Talia. I just think having the two sisters either fight side by side together or fight with each other would be epic either way. And then if we could somehow do some sort of flashback with Ra’s al Ghul coming in as well… Let’s petition to make that happen.” But before you get your hopes up, Law cautioned that the shooting schedule for Training Day makes it difficult for her to get away to Vancouver, where Arrow films.

  4. A New Female Vigilante Is Coming To Arrow (Date: 16 Jan 2017)
Part of the synopsis for episode 11 states: “Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum), tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (Juliana Harkavy) he uncovered on-line who has been wreaking havoc all over the country.” Tina Boland… a vigilante with no code name. And the description of those who have seen her on the set is that she wears all black. Put that with the executive producer Wendy Mericle saying that Green Arrow needs Black Canary and the spoiler-ish trailer telling us that the Laurel Lance we’ve seen is the Earth-2 version… this is making people on-line question if Tina Boland will become the new Black Canary. Earth-1 Laurel asked Ollie to not let the Black Canary end with her. Only the Earth-2 Laurel solves the problem of the Canary Cry being natural, but having her go through a full redemption arc compared to bringing in a new character all together might make Tina the better choice. We know she ends up joining with Team Arrow against Prometheus… but will she do it in a familiar black outfit?

  5. Arrow Will Have a Dolph Lundgren-Heavy Episode Set Mostly in the Russia Flashbacks This Season (Date: 17 Jan 2017)
Action movie icon Dolph Lundgren will take center stage in an upcoming Arrow episode set almost entirely during the flashbacks later this season. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com that he and the writers were aware of the excitement fans have for both Lundgren and the Bratva flashbacks, as well as the additional social media attention on all things Russian just now, all of which makes the episode seem like a good way to fill in some backstory. “Russia is very much in the zeitgeist these days, and coming into the back half of the year, we’re doing a lot more with Russia,” Guggenheim told ComicBook.com. “We’re going to do a Russia-centric episode, a flashback-centric episode like we did in the first three years of the show. We’ll be doing that later on in the season and that will have Dolph Lundgren’s character, Konstantin Kovar, very much front and center.”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/18/arrow-will-have-a-dolph-lundgren-heavy-episode-set-mostly-in-the/
  6. Arrow Season 5 Extended Trailer – ‘This Is Getting Good’ (Date: 18 Jan 2017)
The CW has just debuted a new trailer ahead of next week’s new episode, and it focuses on the questions surrounding Laurel’s sudden reappearance. After Oliver sees her, he begins to wonder if what he’s seeing is real. The remaining issues surrounding Prometheus are still weighing heavy on Oliver and the team, and it sends him further into a state of disbelief. For anyone in that world, it’s a difficult time to understand what’s going on around you. In addition to the teasing of these complicated plot lines, the new trailer features a ton of action. In fact, we may be seeing some of the best action in the show’s five-year run.
The trailer ends with Wild Dog saying what many fans are thinking following the intense footage, “This is getting good!”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/18/arrow-season-5-extended-trailer-this-is-getting-good/
  7. Arrow Episode 16 Title Revealed By Executive Producer (Date: 19 Jan 2017)
The episode is called “Checkmate,” which Guggenheim assures does not refer to the spy agency formerly run by Maxwell Lord and Amanda Waller in the comics. Beth Schwartz and Sarah Tarkoff wrote the episode, which will be the directorial debut of Ken Shane, a veteran second unit director and assistant director who has not only worked on Arrow for years but also worked on Alien 3 and Tim Burton’s Batman.

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. KEVIN SMITH TEASES NEW ALIEN SPECIES IN SUPERGIRL (Date: 17 Jan 2017)
A photo was posted to Smith’s Instagram page and shows him sandwiched in-between two menacing looking aliens. Those aliens, you might remember, were teased in the “Supergirl Lives” extended trailer that the CW released the other day. As it turns out, that alien species has a name, and they are Maaldorians. It seems like this particular alien species was created specifically for this episode, so it’s unknown what the aspects and abilities of them will be. Whatever powers they may possess, it seems like Supergirl can still take them down with no problem, as she punches one with no hesitation in the trailer.

  2. Neil A FLASH ALUM TEASES UNEXPECTED RETURN (Date: 16 Jan 2017)
When a television series frequently features time travel, alternate timelines and alternate universes, a character’s death doesn’t necessarily have the usual feeling of finality. Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne after actor Rick Consett announced today that he’s coming back to The CW drama. How Eddie Thawne finds himself back in Star City remains to be seen. The show was recently renewed for a fourth season, and given the nature of the space-time continuum, the guest roles could keep coming for Cosnett.

  3. Michelle SUPERGIRL TRAILER TEASES RETURN OF LIVEWIRE AND DOMINATORS (Date: 13 Jan 2017)
Fortunately, a new trailer for The CW’s “Supergirl” marks the return of the heroine for the second half of Season Two with the Kevin Smith-directed “Supergirl Lives,” which sees Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist, and Mon-El, portrayed by Chris Wood, traveling to another world to break up an alien slaver’s ring. The trailer also teases bigger events down the road. Long-running “Superman” villainess Livewire, played by Brit Morgan, will make her return, and it looks as if greater emphasis will be placed on Jimmy Olsen’s (Mechad Brooks) costume identity Guardian.

  4. Chris Legends of Tomorrow star Wentworth Miller talks Captain Cold’s return (Date: 11 Jan 2017)
After sacrificing himself in season 1 to destroy the Time Council and save the Legends, Snart (Wentworth Miller) is slated to join Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in the Legion of Doom — and not just as a vision in Mick’s (Dominic Purcell) head. How? Well, it is a time travel show, and it sounds like the Legion may be scooping up Snart from an earlier time. “My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he’s a straight up villain,” Miller tells EW — the actor was on hand at the Television Critics Association’s press tour Wednesday to promote the return of Prison Break. “He hasn’t gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again — quote unquote alive in 2017 — I imagine that he’s going to be much like when we first met him the first season on The Flash, which I’m looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place.”

  5. THE FLASH: THE FUTURE ISN’T WHAT IT USED TO BE IN EXTENDED TRAILER (Date: 17 Jan 2017)
In this extended trailer for “Borrowing Problems from the Future,” the mid-season premiere, Barry and Cisco work backwards to prevent a future where Savitar kills Iris. HR Wells also toasts to Barry and Iris’ relationship, and the team assembles to outsmart Savitar once and for all.

  6. Michelle JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK: DEADMAN REACHES OUT TO BATMAN IN NEW CLIP (Date: 17 Jan 2017)
Batman is in for a nasty surprise. In a new clip from “Justice League Dark,” Deadman reaches out for the Dark Knight’s help, but he may just cross a boundary or two in order to do so.
The clip opens as Bruce Wayne prepares for a shave. As soon as he touches his razor to his face, though, an unseen entity creeps up behind him, and he appears to be completely oblivious to its presence. When he becomes aware of it, it startles him enough that he cuts his cheek, and the pain causes him to look away for a brief moment. When he looks back up, he finds a name scrawled in the fogged up mirror: Constantine.

  7. Neil Kevin Smith Returning to Supergirl For Another Season 2 Episode (Date: 18 Jan 2017)
Smith told ComicBook.com that he will return for a second episode this season — the as-yet-untitled seventeenth episode of the season. Smith said that midway through the episode “Supergirl Lives”, producers started feeling out his schedule. Ultimately, they offered him episode 17, which he described as “sweet,” saying that it was nice that producers liked the job he was doing enough to bring him back within the season.

CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES

Season 02 Episode 02  “Justice Society of America” (Date: 20 Oct 2016)
Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/10/21/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow-easter-eggs-and-other-things-you-may-hav/

  1. THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA – The Justice Society of America is DC Comics’s first superhero team — both in the real world and in terms of publishing history. The Justice Society of America was conceived by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox. The JSA first appeared in All Star Comics #3 (Winter 1940–1941).
  2. VIXEN – Probably the most recognizable member of the JSA’s cast this time around was Vixen — at least for fans of the CWverse. In addition to having her own animated series, Vixen — an African-American woman who derives the power of animals from the Tantu Totem she wears around her neck — had a memorable guest appearance on Arrow last season. Of course, that’s all Mari. This woman? Mari’s grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, who passed the totem down through their family.
  3. HOURMAN – Rex Tyler, also known as Hourman, is a Golden Age superhero and the first of a number of characters to use the Hourman name. Tyler has a number of superhuman abilities, like enhanced strength, reflexes, and healing — but only for an hour at a time. His abilities are given to him by Miraclo, a drug he designed himself. There is an Hourman legacy including Rex’s son Rick and an android from the 853rd Century programmed to act as a member of the Tyler family. The android, at a point in the past, presented Rex with an hourglass infused with tachyons — time in its most basic form — and that hourglass would become part of both his and Rick’s costumes. Said hourglass has been seen on board the Waverider on previous episodes of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow..
  4. STARGIRL – Stargirl is Courtney Whitmore. In the TV series, she exists in 1942 — but in the original comics, she was created (and existed) in 1999, and was part of a “next generation” of Justice Society members who came up in the late ’90s and early 2000s. Courtney Whitmore was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, and has a famous backstory: Johns named her after (and based her personality on) his sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996.
  5. COMMANDER STEEL – Commander Steel is Hank Heywood, Sr., the first in a line of DC heroes to use variations on the Steel moniker. A legend in the World War II era and a member of the All-Star Squadron and later the Justice Society of America, Heywood’s body had surgically-implanted mechanized steel devices that allowed his body to work on a superhuman level. Originally just “Steel,” he was promoted to Commander Steel by President Roosevelt in 1940 — so while this is his first appearance in live action, it’s timeline-accurate to call him Commander Steel by this point in his career since the story takes place in 1942.
  6. DOCTOR MID-NITE – Doctor Mid-Nite is a name shared by a number of blind super-heroes and physicians with the ability to see in the darkness, using blackout bombs and martial arts to gain an advantage over criminals. Doctor Mid-Nite was created by Charles Reizenstein and Stan Aschmeier, first appearing in All-American Comics #25.
  7. OBSIDIAN – Obsidian is the son of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, a founding member of the JSA in the comics. He and his sister Jade would go on to play an important role in the Justice Society’s sinoff groups the Young All-Stars and Infinity, Inc., as well as eventually joining the Justice Society itself. He was also briefly affiliated with the Justice League.
  8. LEAVENWORTH – The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in northeast Kansas. On Arrow, it was revealed that Leavenworth is where John Diggle is being held while awaiting his court martial.
  9. KRIEGER – There are basically two figures who could have inspired Baron Krieger, even though there is no specific Baron Krieger in DC Comics. The first is Baron Blitzkrieg: Originally a World War II German army officer, the man who would be Baron Blitzkrieg was blinded when a concentration camp prisoner threw acid into his face. German scientists experimented on him, giving him injections of experimental drugs which would give him incredible powers for brief periods of time. The other possibility is Albrecht Krieger, who was basically Captain America, but for Nazis. A genetically-modified super-soldier, Krieger also had a mad scientist brother and a psychic  sister we might have to worry about if it’s him — and while the backstory feels a lot more like Blitzkrieg’s, Krieger has not only the name but the general look of this week’s threat.
  10. MAX LORENZ – Max Lorenz was a famous singer, who lived in Germany around the time of World War II and is widely known as “Hitler’s favorite tenor.” Of course, it’s a handy thing that Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber has the pipes to make that scene convincing.
  11. UBERMENSCH – It’s worth noting that there are several references to “Übermensch” in here, which is derived from Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra, one of the influences for Superman, which is more or less what the word translates to directly. The term can literally translate to “Overman,” which in the DC Comics universe is an alternate-universe version of Superman who lives on an Earth where the Nazis won World War II.REVERSE-FLASH – Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve. At the end of The Flash’s Season 3 premiere earlier this month, he said that while his future was as it should be, Barry’s might not be. Barry then went home to discover a number of small anomalies that made his life and those of his friends worse. Now, we learn that “somebody” is outfitting the villains of history with future tech in order to push the world to a slightly worse place. Could Eobard Thawne have stepped right out of “Flashpoint” and into “Out of Time?” Either way, seeing him and Darhk together is enough to make seasoned Arrowverse fans quake in their boots even before they know the other members of Thawne’s little Legion of Doom.

  2. Laurel Lance’s Return Is Further Teased In Synopsis For ARROW Season 5, Episode 10 (Date: 06 Jan 2017)
OLIVER WANTS JUSTICE; FELICITY WANTS REVENGE — Worried that Prometheus is right and he is truly a killer at heart, Oliver (Stephen Amell) looks for any ray of hope and finds it in what seems to be the miraculous return of Laurel Lance (guest star Katie Cassidy). However, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards), still reeling from Detective Malone’s murder, is bent on revenge – she wants to stop Prometheus at any cost. While in prison, Diggle (David Ramsey) fights for his life. Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Ben Sokolowski & Brian Ford Sullivan.

  3. ARROW: THE CALCULATOR IS NOT RETURNING – YET (Date: 09 Jan 2017)
According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Donna and the Calculator won’t be back because the show is moving in a new direction. Guggenheim also teased that Felicity will a meet a few people in the back half of the season that are connected to her past. Additionally, he explained that Felicity’s new, darker direction can’t be blamed solely on Billy Malone’s death. Rather, her experiences over the course of the show will culminate in her new attitude. “Billy was the final straw,” he said. “It’s also the sum of the fact that Felicity has been living in this darker world for the last four-plus years now…. How has that affected her way of thinking about things?” He added that this will be directly addressed in Season 5 Episode 11.

  4. ARROW: Greg Berlanti Teases More Appearances From Laurel Lance Across The CW (Date: 10 Jan 2017)
While it hasn’t been confirmed 100%, it’s a pretty safe bet that this Laurel is the evil Black Siren from Earth 2, who was originally introduced in The Flash last year. While her motivations remain unknown, Arrow producer Greg Berlanti has teased the character’s involvement in more than just the events of Arrow’s fifth season. “We made a deal at the end of [season 4] to bring her back for a bunch of episodes. Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that’s ever been a part of the key and core ensemble has always had a place at the table for our show. There’s the capacity for her to be [in all four shows]. At this moment, she’s in three of them.”

  5. ARROW EPS ADMIT IT’S HARD TO DO THE SHOW WITHOUT A BLACK CANARY (Date: 11 Jan 2017)
Co-showrunner Wendy Mericle said, “Look, it’s hard to do a show about Green Arrow without having a Black Canary. I don’t know if it will happen this season or when, but… we are going to be true to origins in the DC universe, and she’s always going to be there.” So far on the show, three characters have carried the Canary name: Sara Lance, Laurel Lance and Evelyn Sharp.

LOST MEMORIES — When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends.  However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to “time drift” and is just a graduate film student. After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Bradon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team.  Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team. That batch of episodes starts with an episode titled “Raiders of the Lost Art,” which guest stars a young George Lucas (or rather an actor named Matt Angel playing a young Lucas) and features the return of Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill). But Rip won’t return the same as we previously knew him. Marc Guggenheim talked about the upcoming episodes and how the Spear of Destiny will impact the show. “The second half of the season is really paying off the Legion of Doom and what we now know is the MacGuffin of Season 2, the Spear of Destiny,” said Guggenheim. “Changing time is like painting with the biggest paintbrush possible; using the Spear of Destiny is like using a very, very fine-point technical pen.”

  3. The Girl Of Steel Visits Another World In Synopsis For Kevin Smith’s Episode Of SUPERGIRL (Date: 05 Jan 2017)
KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos.

When a criminal named Plunder (guest star Stephen Huszar) shows up in Central City, Barry recalls the villain’s presence in his vision of the future and fears that if he catches Plunder, it will cement Iris’ fate. Confused about Barry’s hesitation to stop Plunder, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) decides to step in as Kid Flash. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) offers Julian (Tom Felton) a job. Millicent Shelton directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & David Kob.

  6. SUPERGIRL / FLASH MUSICAL WILL HAVE ‘GREAT IMPACT’ ON BOTH SHOWS (Date: 09 Jan 2017)
The upcoming musical crossover between “Supergirl” and “The Flash” isn’t just going to be a fun gimmick. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, the two-part story will have lasting ramifications on both shows. According to Kreisberg. “When we get to the musical episodes, both Barry and Kara will find themselves at pivotal crossroads on their respective series, and the experience of going through the musical will have a great impact on both series moving forward.” Executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed the villain will indeed be the Music Meister, who can control people through song. What’s more, the musical crossover will feature original songs and could include characters from any Earth or timeline in the “Arrow”-verse. No date has been announced for “The Flash”/”Supergirl” crossover.

  7. DC COMICS’ SOLOVAR ARRIVES IN FLASH’S TWO-PART GORILLA CITY STORY (Date: 09 Jan 2017)
“The Flash” is taking a trip to Gorilla City in episodes 13 and 14 of season three. The series will also introduce a new telepathic gorilla straight from the comics, Solovar. Keith David will provide the voice of Solovar in the Gorilla Grodd-centric two-parter. David is a film and television veteran with a career spanning decades. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced the return of Grodd and Gorilla City during a presentation at the TCAs. Kreisberg also revealed that the two-parter will span multiple Earths. “One of the episodes will take place in Gorilla City [on Earth-2], and one of them will take place on Earth-1.” In the comics, Solovar — a psychic gorilla like Grodd — is the leader of Gorilla City. Under his rule, Gorilla City became a technological wonder. Solovar’s involvement in “The Flash’s” Grodd/Gorilla City two-parter makes sense considering that Solovar is Grodd’s main rival (other than the Scarlet Speedster) in the comics.

  8. BLACK FLASH TO RETURN ON ‘MULTIPLE’ ARROWVERSE SERIES (Date: 08 Jan 2017)
As expected, “The Flash” viewers haven’t seen the last of Hunter “Zoom” Zolomon. However, when the character returns, it may not only be on that CW drama — and he may not be portrayed by Teddy Sears. Transformed by time wraiths into Black Flash and then pulled into the Speed Force in “The Flash’s” Season Two finale, the villain will indeed race back into the Arrowverse.“I will say that you might be seeing him on multiple shows,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. He didn’t say which shows those are, or when fans can expect Black Flash’s return. “[Black Flash] is a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around,” he said. “There’s something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it’s now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”

  9. ‘Constantine’ Back As Animated Series For CW Seed With Greg Berlanti Producing (Date: 08 Jan 2017)
Constantine, which had a one-season run on NBC, will be back as an animated series for CW Seed. Five to six 10-minute episodes have been ordered. Matt Ryan, who starred in the live-action DC series, will voice the title character.

  10. SUPERGIRL CASTS PETER GADIOT AS MISTER MXYZPTLK (Date: 07 Jan 2017)
A new photo from the set of the CW drama reveals that actor Peter Gadiot, who played Cyrus on ABC’s short-lived “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” has been cast as the classic Superman foe. However, we can see that the impish villain won’t look anything like he does in the DC Comics source material, where he’s traditionally depicted as an older, diminutive character. Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Ira Yarborough for 1944’s “Superman” #30, Mister Mxyzptlk is a mischievous imp from the fifth dimension who delights in tormenting the Man of Steel.

  11. THE CW HAS ‘NO PLANS’ FOR A SUPERMAN SERIES (Date: 08 Jan 2017)
“Tyler did a great job,” The CW President Mark Pedowitz said. “There’s no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to ‘Supergirl’]. If they wish to have him return, we’d love to have him.”

  12. THE FLASH Will Weave Kid Flash, Killer Frost And Gypsy Story Arcs Into Remaining Season 3 Episodes (Date: 07 Jan 2017)
Armed with that knowledge Barry and his allies will be frantically searching for ways to prepare for an inevitable second round with the God of Speed. As for the rest of Team Flash, the co-showrunner adds that Gypsy (played by the recently cast Jessica Camacho of Sleepy Hollow) will be playing an important adversarial role in Cisco’s budding superhero career, Caitlin will continue to wrestle with her Killer Frost alter ego and Wally West will continue to fly off the handle and cause trouble as Kid Flash.

  13. Robbie Amell to return as Ronnie Raymond (Date: 12 Jan 2017)
    * Robbie Amell is slated to reprise his role as Ronnie Raymond in an upcoming episode of The Flash, EW has learned exclusively.
    * Details on how Amell will appear — whether in a different timeline in which he’s still alive or we’re meeting a doppelgänger from another universe — are being kept under wraps, but he’ll appear in a winter episode.
    * Dead on Earth-1 (Saving Central City from the singularity). Dead on Earth-2 (as Deathstorm). Do we get to see him die as an Earth-3 Ronnie?

CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES

Season 02 Episode 01  “Out of Time” (Date: 13 Oct 2016)
Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/10/13/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow-things-you-might-have-missed-in-out-of-t/

  1. Out of Time – As has been the case a lot in the first couple of weeks of The CW’s TV season, the episode’s title — “Out of Time” — is a bit of a reference in and of itself. It’s likely been the name of a number of time travel-related stories — but most recently, it was the name of a story that ran through The Flash #30-35 (from the 2011 series) and featured, among other villains, The Reverse-Flash. The fact that the final moments of the episode incorporate the “surprise” appearance of Eobard Thawne, then, suggests this could have been a more-than-incidental use of the name.
  2. OLIVER QUEEN – Oliver Queen, seen wearing a suit and not in his Green Arrow costume for the purposes of this season finale, is played by Stephen Amell. The star of Arrow, Oliver is generally considered the genesis point for The CW’s DC Universe (even though they obviously had Smallville and Birds of Prey long before Arrow came along). Amell’s Green Arrow appeared in the series premieres of both The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, so this episode more or less continues a tradition.
  3. NATE HEYWOOD – Nick Zano joins the cast as Nate Heywood — “Citizen Steel” — who in the comics inherits the powers and costume of his grandfather. He’s a troubled individual, suffering from both physical and emotional damage, in the comics — but as Zano told ComicBook.com at Comic Con International: San Diego, that’s not the direction they’re going with Heywood on TV.
  4. THE THREE MUSKETEERS – Cardinal Richelieu, depicted as one of the villains of Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers, being included in this episode more or less cements the idea that they look like that on purpose — and explains why certain characters who were strategically important in the fight — like Jax, for instance — had to stay out of sight.
  5. REX TYLER – Rex Tyler, the Golden Age Hourman and a veteran member of the Justice Society of America, is one of a number of DC heroes who would pass on his name and legacy numerous times over the decades to come in the comics. On TV, he made a single, brief appearance at the end of the season 1 finale of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and will show up again — with the rest of the Justice Society this time — in next week’s episode as well.
  6. DAMIEN DARHK – Damien Darhk was the season four big bad on Arrow. Like Ra’s al Ghul, he’s a very old man who has been kept relatively young by the Lazarus Pit because of his position of power and authority first within the League of Assassins and later in H.I.V.E. Originally created as a villain in The Titans, Darhk’s control of H.I.V.E. made him an ideal choice when The CW decided to introduce a magical villain last year. He was nearly unbeatable until Oliver figured out how to manipulate Darhk’s energy to his own ends, and now he’s dead — except that as somebody who’s been not only alive, but rich and powerful for decades, he’s surprisingly easy for a time-traveling troublemaker to find and recruit.
  7. ALBERT EINSTEIN – First of all, he’s appeared in DC Comics before. In an oversized issue Superman vs. Wonder Woman, Nazis went after Einstein in 1942. Ultimately, Wonder Woman rescues him but ends up finding out about the Manhattan Project. After becoming a person of interest for a while and throwing down with Superman a bit, she ends up teaming up with the Last Son of Krypton to track down and defeat Baron Blitzkrieg. Secondly, the thing with his wife is actually based in historical controversy.  Mileva Mari? was a Serbian physicist and has long been rumored to have coauthored Einstein’s 1905 paper on relativity.
  8. INSULTING RAY – Calling him a “boy scout” feels like a nod to Brandon Routh’s time as Superman, but the whole “what are you without that suit?” reeks of Marvel’s The Avengers. That’s a comic book movie reference twofer!
  9. REVERSE-FLASH – Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve.

  1. FIRST CLIP FROM KEVIN SMITH’S SUPERGIRL EP SHOWS CASUAL, QUIPPY TONE (Date: 27 Dec 2016)
After directing an episode of season two of “The Flash,” Kevin Smith is returning to the CW to direct an episode of “Supergirl”. There’s one big development that’s revealed in the clip: Mon-El finally got a job! He’s working as a bartender, which makes a lot of sense given his party-boy Daxamite background. True to form though, he’s not great at fetching club soda for Kara, preferring to serve her something brown and boozy.

  2. Tense Flash clip finds Barry and Wally at odds (Date: 27 Dec 2016)
Wally, reveling in his newly rediscovered Kid Flash powers, appears to have gotten a little over eager during what was supposed to be a training session with Barry. Despite the fact that he saves the Flash’s life, Barry is none too happy with his protégé, and brings him to task for doing instead of observing and learning like he was supposed to.The clip also teases the introduction of another villain from the comics, with Wally bragging about how he put Plunder into Iron Heights. Plunder was previously shown in a season three episode in a news report, wearing an eye patch.

    * It begins with Nate and Ray mentioning for the first time that Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) are member of the Legion of Doom — though White Canary doesn’t want to call them that.
    * We also learn, from a Sara-Jax exchange, that the Legion have Rip Hunter.
    * Lots of great action!

  4. Jeremy Jordan Talks Winn’s Evolution on Supergirl (Date: 02 Jan 2017)
Jeremy Jordan discusses with Comicbook.com how Winn is developing from last season now that he is with the DEO instead of CatCo. “I think that Winn has become a foil for the audience in terms of how he’s giving us the fanboy reaction play by play, and that’s a really fun, exciting aspect of Winn to play,” Jordan said. “That’s ‘old Winn.’ That who Winn has always been at his core. At the same time, Winn is growing up and learning to guard himself and learning to protect his friends and he kind of becomes a little bit of the sage advice-giver this season, whether he’s giving advice to Alex or cautioning James to take it easy. I think he’s learned a lot from Cat and he’s learned a lot from his experience in the past year or so and it’s forced him to grow up a lot.”

  5. Geoff Johns Will Return To Writing Comics In 2017, Teases Another New DCTV Show (Date: 01 Jan 2017)
Geoff Johns’ top 5 DC events that he’s looking forward to in 2017 has revealed that DC’s Chief Creative Officer will be returning to comics and also that there’s a new DCTV show on the horizon. It seems pretty clear that Johns’ return to writing a DC comic will involve the Watchmen characters that were behind the Rebirth event. But will that be a new series exclusively focusing on those characters or are we looking at another crossover event? There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding Ozymandias and Doctor Manhattan’s role in Rebirth so the safe bet would be another event series continuing on from where Rebirth left off. As far as a new DCTV series is concerned, will it be airing on The CW, Fox, Syfy or some other network?  And with the large number of DC characters already appearing on the various shows, will it be another spinoff series?

  6. Cisco Ramon may be getting a love interest  (Date: 05 Jan 2017)
    * Gypsy is a character who teamed with Vibe, Vixen, and a handful of other heroes on the ’80s’ notorious “Justice League Detroit,” and she is expected to make her way to Central City soon…
    * Gypsy may be the one to help him really power through the challenges ahead while shedding some of the baggage of the last few months.
    * From a TVLine interview: “Cisco will find in the ‘badass’ Gypsy ‘a very strong adversary’ as well as ‘someone he can’t stop thinking about.’”

  7. The back half of Supergirl S.02 will explore the Kara/Mon-El relationship  (Date: 05 Jan 2017)
    * A recent clip from Kevin Smith’s latest Supergirl episode showed another ‘meet-cute’ moment between the two model-faced aliens,
    * According to executive producer Ali Adler, we’ll see that romantic sub-plot continue over the latter half of season 2.
    * As Adler told TV Line when laying out the mid-season 2 arcs, “We’ll explore more of that relationship… Kara still has to figure out how she feels about him.”
    * The fact that we now know Mon-El is hiding a possibly nefarious secret will also have to be addressed, with Adler acknowledging, “A lot of secrets have been brewing this season,” and that as season 2 gets into its latter half, “We’ll get definitive answers.”

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. Gal Gadot Comments On Wonder Woman’s U.N. Ambassador Controversy (Date: 19 December 2016)
“There are so many horrible things that are going on in the world, and this is what you’re protesting, seriously?” Gadot said about the backlash during a recent chat with TIME. She continued, “When people argue that Wonder Woman should ‘cover up,’ I don’t quite get it. They say, ‘If she’s smart and strong, she can’t also be sexy.’ That’s not fair. Why can’t she be all of the above?” Of course, Gadot is not the only baffled by the controversy. Protestors demanded Wonder Woman be removed from her honorary position because some felt it was inappropriate to have a busty white woman carry the torch. However, fans from around the world are now rallying behind Wonder Woman and emphasizing that her beauty in no way negates her inspirational history. Already, there are dozens of online petitions running which ask the U.N. to reinstate Wonder Woman as an ambassador. Over on Change.org, Chloe Behrens has created a petition which asks for Wonder Woman to be reinstated as an ambassador.

After around 2 months, it’s finally done. This is my way of telling a unique story about the formation of the CW’s very own, Justice League of America. There was a lot of pressure on me (that I put on myself) that this video be good, so I really hope you guys enjoy this,” UltraSargent wrote.

  4. Suicide Squad Is The Most Popular Movie Of 2016 On IMDB (Date: 19 Dec 2016)
According to the website, Suicide Squad was the most popular movie of 2016 on IMDB. Here’s what the ranking had to say about the supervillain flick: “Anticipation was high for the first big-budget movie lead by supervillains. All the signs were good with a cast that included Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker and Margot Robbie as the baseball bat-wielding troublemaker Harley Quinn. Robbie stole the show and the film helped position her as IMDb’s top star of 2016. And while there were naysayers for the film, written and directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad took more than $745 million at the worldwide box office and made it the most popular movie on IMDb in 2016.”

GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS

  1. Green Arrow Issue #13 – “EMERALD OUTLAW” part two
Writer: Benjamin Percy Pencils Otto Schmidt Letters: Nate Piekos of Blambot
Snow falls on Seattle as its mayoral race heats up with a rash of murders that implicate a deadly archer. As a city wonders what’s become of its Emerald Archer, Green Arrow and Black Canary race to rule out their prime suspect: Emiko Queen.

  2. Is Green Arrow Going Up Against the Dakota Access Pipeline In March? (Date: 19 Dec 2016)
As part of an effort to reach the widest possible audience, The New 52 had downplayed Oliver Queen’s left-wing politics. When Rebirth came around, though, one of the things that Percy seemed to be saying was that being a political animal was so engrained in Oliver’s persona that removing it left the character missing something that hadn’t been replaced. On sale March 15, Green Arrow #19 sees the Emerald Archer and his former sidekick Arsenal going up against…well, it’s not exactly explained, but without larger context? It sounds a lot like the Dakota Access Pipeline project. Here’s the solicitation text: “Orphaned as an infant and raised on a Navajo reservation, the superhero Arsenal returns to his adopted home to defend it from a violent militia hired by…Queen Industries?! Oliver Queen’s company has been up to no good since his supposed death, but Green Arrow is on the scene to make things right. Unfortunately for Ollie, he’s the last person his former sidekick wants to see.”

  3. DC’s REBIRTH Gets Its Own Trailer (Date: 20 DC 2016)
Seven months into DC Comics’ “Rebirth” era, the publisher has released a trailer highlighting it as the start of “the next big epic.” The trailer, done to coincide with the release of the first collections from “Rebirth,” can be seen here:

  4. Wonder Woman writer and artist dropped by DC over ‘challenging relationship’ (Date: 20 Dec 2016)
The critically acclaimed, Eisner-nominated comic series The Legend of Wonder Woman has been cancelled by DC Comics, because of what a spokesperson for DC called “a challenging relationship” with the husband and wife team behind the series. Since the cancellation was announced, fans have been wondering whether it was due to poor sales, or studio sexism towards Wonder Woman. However, the DC spokesperson told the Guardian that though “we loved the book and we were very excited to work on the collected volume”, the studio was concerned about Dillon’s public comments about other teams at DC on social media. In a series of now-deleted tweets, preserved online on Bleeding Cool, Dillon criticised the writing in another DC series, Wonder Woman: Earth One, and complained when DC approved future volumes of Earth One while he was waiting to hear about the future of his own series. “It is an unfortunate situation. We tried hard to make it work,” the DC spokesperson said.

ARROW NEWS:

  1. Arrow Tragedy Will Push Felicity to a Darker, ‘Morally Questionable’ Place (Date: 11 Dec 2016)
Wendy Mericle discussed Felicity with TVline.com. “One thing Felicity is not going to do, I can tell you for sure, is blame Oliver. She recognizes the manipulations that have led to this situation,” said Wendy Mericle, “Felicity has set her sights on Prometheus. This season we have said we’re going to take her to a darker place, and you’re seeing the genesis of the reason why, right here.”

  2. ARROW, SUPERGIRL, FLASH Go Retro In BATMAN ’66 Style Animated Credits (Date: 12 Dec 2016)
Fans have been pointing out similarities between Green Arrow and Batman since the 40s, when Ollie was parking his Arrowcar in his Arrowcave. Now, the Emerald Archer is following in the Dark Knight’s footsteps one more time, and he’s bringing the rest of CW’s DC-Verse with him in this Arrow credit sequence, animated in the style of the Batman ’66 TV credits by YouTube user Dave Jones.

  3. Stephen Amell Uses Batman Begins To Explain An Arrow Season 5 Plot Point (Date: 14 Dec 2016)
The CW’s Arrow showrunner Wendy Mericle recently talked about the direction of the Susan Williams plot thread on Arrow, saying that the reporter hasn’t let up on trying to prove that Oliver Queen was living and operating out of Russia during the five years he was supposedly stranded on a deserted island. In trying to explain the story, series star Stephen Amell turned to a familiar superhero staple for audiences: Batman Begins. “Susan appears to be up to no good, but in reality, she’s just following a very interesting story,” Amell told reporters during a set visit back in November. “I mean, the mayor of the town where she’s a reporter was clearly not on an island for five consecutive years — which, by the way, I think it’s about time we did that. I always think back to the first Nolan Batman, where Ra’s al Ghul says to him ‘The world is too small a place for someone like Bruce Wayne to disappear.’ Even if [Oliver] wasn’t as famous — and he wasn’t — he did perish in a very famous incident in our story. I always thought when he was in Hong Kong that someone would stop him and be like, ‘Hey, you look like Oliver Queen!’ but it didn’t happen.”

  4. Hollywood’s 50 Favorite Female Characters (Date: 09 Dec 2016)
For THR’s latest intra-industry poll, the editors asked Hollywood professionals — actors, writers, directors and others — to take an online survey of their favorite fictional female characters. More than 1,800 participated — twice as many women as men — but the results proved there isn’t such a great divide between the sexes after all, at least when it comes to what types of females we enjoy watching on screens. #15 is Felicity Smoak – Felicity was supposed to be a minor character, but her chemistry with Oliver Queen made her a fan favorite. By season two of The CW’s adaptation of the DC comic, she was a regular player. “Felicity has developed over the course of the series,” says Rickards. “She’s from a regular world. She’s relatable, honest and grounded. But she’s not boring.”

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. THE FLASH Set To Introduce Justice League Detroit Member Gypsy For The Second Half Of Season 3 (Date: 11 Dec 2016)
The Flash will introduce another DC hero to lend Barry Allen and friends a hand for the remaining season 3 episodes. During a new installment of The CW’s Fan Feast, actor Carlos Valdes (Vibe) confirmed that Gypsy/Cindy Reynolds will be introduced at some point when the show returns in January. “There’s going to be a new visitor to our world named Gypsy,” said Valdes. “DC Comics fans will be familiar with Gypsy. She is going to be coming in our world and Vibe will definitely get to learn some new skills as part of getting to know her. So I’m excited to see how that plays out.” Based on Valdes’ comments, it’s safe to assume that they’ll be going with the New 52 incarnation of the character, who was a runaway from another dimension.

  2. ‘The Flash’ Casts ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Star Jessica Camacho to Play Gypsy (Exclusive) (Date: 14 Dec 2016)

  3. Protests end Wonder Woman’s fight for equality at United Nations (Date: 12 Dec 2016)
A United Nations spokesman said the character’s role at the 193-member state organization would end on Friday despite plans for Wonder Woman to be used in an empowerment campaign for women and girls into 2017. The move came after the Oct. 21 appointment of the superhero to fight for gender equality sparked heavy criticism, with nearly 45,000 people signing an online petition asking U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to reconsider selection of the character. “Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent ‘warrior’ woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character’s current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions,” the petition read. Dozens of U.N. employees protested at the U.N. headquarters in New York City on the day of the appointment when Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, said the Wonder Woman campaign would feature various initiatives “over the course of the next year.” The U.N. did not provide further details as to why the Wonder Woman campaign was ending this week but spokesman Jeffrey Brez said campaigns using fictional characters often lasted no longer than a few months.

      • Tommy Merlyn – Not likely now. In Ollie’s Dementor vision as someone proud of Ollie

CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES

Season Episode  “What We Leave Behind” (Date: 08 Dec 2016)
Article: http://comicbook.com/2016/12/08/arrow-easter-eggs-and-things-you-might-have-missed-in-the-season/

  1. JUDAS CONTRACT – A young, female team member who is recruited into Team Arrow and then seduced to the dark side and ends up becoming a sleeper agent for the villain is pretty much exactly the plot to the classic New Teen Titans storyline The Judas Contract.
  2. OLIVER’S CHRISTMAS MOVIES – According to Stephen Amell’s recent Facebook Live video, he shares Oliver’s favorite Christmas movie (Die Hard) and the “Its true!” he delivered after saying so in the episode was actually a Stephen Amell-ism, not Oliver Queen’s.
His second choice, It’s a Wonderful Life, is an interesting one considering…”I was very lucky to be able to rewatch that movie last week.”…which of course is not a thing that happened. He was  subjected to a kind of custom-made It’s a Wonderful Life, where the Dominators showed him a whole different timeline and how his life and the lives of those around him might be different if he had made different decisions.
  3. BIG BELLY BURGER – The mention is because the to-go bag for the DC Universe’s favorite burger joint was the focus of a shot that hung on for a few seconds AND transitioned from the present day to the flashbacks. That’s a lot of camera time for a fast food container.
  4. CLAYBOURNE – While Justin Claybourne’s name did in fact appear on The List, we never saw him dealt with in season 1 and all of the scenes here that were calling back to the first year of the series were entirely new material. This, of course, opens up the question of whether we might see some more such stories in flashbacks for future episodes…!
  5. ALMOST EVERY WEDNESDAY – “People who are supposed to be dead turn out to be alive almost every Wednesday.” Weirdly enough never during the summer or between mid-December and late January, though.
  6. THE HOOD – Oliver’s season 1 costume, the kill list, the sets, the mission, his arguments with Diggle…this is what it was like when he was The Hood and not Green Arrow.
  7. THE RED PEN – The red pen is a nice callback to some of Felicity Smoak’s earliest appearances, and that makes it worth breaking out to talk separately about “IT Girl Felicity,” back when Oliver was still making up outlandish stories to get her help instead of just coming clean with her.
  8. AK DESMOND PHARMACEUTICAL – It seems worth noting, since Dr. Alchemy is such a big part of The Flash this season, that A.K. Desmond Pharmaceutical could plausibly be considered a wink-and-a-nod reference to Albert Desmond, a chemist who would go on to become Dr. Alchemy in the comics. Unlikely, but possible!
  9. MAKE THE CITY GREAT AGAIN – Obviously in his final moments, when Claybourne is trying to appeal to Oliver’s ideas about “saving the city,” he says that businesses like his can “make the city great again,” which in the context of the last years’ worth of public life feels suspiciously like a reference to Donald Trump’s “make America great again” campaign slogan.

ARROW NEWS:

  1. ARROW FANS HAVE ALREADY SEEN SEASON 5’S FINAL SCENE — OR HAVE THEY? (Date: 05 Dec 2016)
Now that “Arrow” has reached season five and has no plans of slowing down, the plan has changed slightly. As Guggenheim said, “Spoiler alert. That’s (Ollie’s rescue from Lian Yu) going to end up being the Season 5 finale.” Season five’s flashback story arc will still end by replaying the first moments of the series, but there’s now much more show to come after that moment in season six and beyond. But just because fans saw how season five will end five years ago doesn’t mean there aren’t surprises still ahead at the end of this season. Guggenheim added that the creators have “some incredibly clear plans for what we want to do in the Season 5 finale,” but that they always leave wiggle room for surprises and cliffhangers.

  2. Arrow’s David Ramsey: “I Like The Idea Of Felicity Not Defining Herself Through Her Relationship With A Man” (Date: 04 Dec 2016)
During the Arrow panel at the CCXP convention in Brazil, David Ramsey was asked to chime in on Olicity. “For me, I like the idea of Felicity not defining herself through her relationship with a man,” Ramsey told the crowd. “I like the idea that she can be her own person, and she can be strong and feminine, own the company, without pining over men — Oliver or any other man.”
    Link:http://comicbook.com/2016/12/05/arrows-david-ramsey-i-like-the-idea-of-felicity-not-defining-her/
  3. Stephen Amell Addresses The Big Twist In Arrow’s Midseason Finale (Date: 07 Dec 2016)
In a Facebook video, Stephen Amell discussed the return of Laurel. Amell said that tonight’s script was the first in a long time that legitimately shocked him when he turned the page to that reveal. He also said that he was skeptical at first of the idea of bringing another character back from the dead, but that they’re now several episodes down the line in production and that he thinks the story that comes out of it is a good one.

GENERAL DC TV NEWS

  1. Four-Night DC Crossover Gives The CW Its Most-Watched Week In Six Years (Date: 06 Dec 2016)
The four-night DC superhero crossover event is certainly paying off big for the CW, pulling in 2.3 million viewers for its most-watched week in six years. For the week of November 28, the CW was up 20% in total viewers versus the same week last year, up 15% in adults 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and up 16% in adults 18-34 (0.6 vs. 0.5), according to Nielsen stats. Supergirl had its most-watched (3.5M) episode of the season, and matched its season premiere ratings in both adults 18-34 (0.9/4) and adults 18-49 (1.1/4). The Flash saw its most-watched episode (4.15M) in almost two years (12/9/14) and its highest rated episode of the season. Arrow delivered the series’ most watched (3.55M) and highest-rated episode since last season’s crossover episode (12/2/15). And DC’s Legends of Tomorrow had its most-watched episode ever (3.39M) and its highest-rated episode ever in adults 18-34 (1.0/5).

  2. MISTER MXYZPTLK TO MATERIALIZE ON SUPERGIRL (Date: 02 Dec 2016)
com reports DC Comics supervillain Mister Mxyzptlk will bring his impish antics to the CW drama for two episodes in 2017.Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Ira Yarborough for 1944’s “Superman” #30, Mister Mxyzptlk is a mischievous imp from the fifth dimension who delights in tormenting the Man of Steel. More fun-loving prankster than straightforward villain, Mxyzptlk’s fifth-dimensional technology appears as magic to three-dimensional beings; the limits of his powers are vast and unknown. Famously, he can only be stopped and returned to his home dimension by tricking him into saying his name backward (“Kltpzyxm”).

  3. How “Supergirl” And A Super-Duper Gay Comic Book Clerk Helped Save A Girl’s Life (Date: 04 Dec 2016)
Mary, a “super-duper gay” employee at a comic book shop in Indiana, shared an encounter she had with a young woman. The girl said she was suicidal because she’s gay, and she didn’t realize gay women could be happy until she saw the Alex Danvers coming out arc on Supergirl. To help the girl out through the hiatus, the employees suggested  Batwoman: Elegy, Midnighter, and Gotham Central. The girl didn’t have money for all of the titles, so the employee bought them for her.

  4. Mark Hamill and John Wesley Shipp On the Biggest Surprises Reprising Their Roles on The Flash (Date: 06 Dec 2016)
Interesting fact: Shipp starred in The Flash in 1990 and 1991, with Hamill as a recurring villain. While Hamill was filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new TV version of The Flash was coming together. Three years later, against all odds, he and the producers have found a way for Hamill to make an appearance as James Jesse in each midseason finale so far.

  5. Supergirl Showrunners wanted to play with Shippers (Date: 3 Dec 2016)
Producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed after a screening (h/t EW) that multiple moments with Kara were ultimately cut from the three episodes, including Sara asking out the Girl of Steel (and perhaps foreshadowing a future with Alex):
There was a little exchange between Sara [Caity Lotz] and Kara [Melissa Benoist] that I really liked — I don’t think we even filmed it — where Sara says, ‘Hey, do you want to get a drink when this is all over?’ And Kara says, ‘I think you wanna meet my sister.’ Just the idea of starting the Sara/Alex [Chyler Leigh] shippers going …

  6. Fallout from the Superhero Crossover (Date: 3 Dec 2016)
WILL SUPERGIRL VISIT EARTH-1 AGAIN? | Now that Kara has a way to communicate and travel across Earths, crossovers are certainly “easier” to execute, Kreisberg says. “The next time we do it, it means it doesn’t necessarily have to be because Oliver and Barry need Kara; it could be because Kara needs them.” However, the EP notes that nothing is in the works, seeing as how “we just barely survived this one. So we’re not too concerned with what we’re going to try to do next year. But it just gives us another way to come at a story.”
DOES THE WORLD KNOW ETs EXIST? | A line was cut for time, in which the G-man known as “Glasses” says, “‘Cover up what? A dozen weather satellites falling out of orbit?’” Guggenheim explains: “People see the ships, but no one ever really saw the Dominators. The way we’re sort of playing it going forward is that Glasses is good at his job, and when he says he’s going to cover it up, he’s going to cover it up.” Adds Kreisberg: “There’s a mention of it in The Flash, that the threat of aliens brought out all the crazies. But we’re sort of Doctor Who-ing it.”

GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS

  1. X-MEN: GOLD AND BLUE ROSTERS AND CREATIVE TEAMS REVEALED (Date: 28 Nov 2016)
X-Men: Gold will be written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Ardian Syaf. The phase-shifting Kitty Pryde at long-last will become an X-Men team leader, whose squad includes Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Old Man Logan, and Rachel Grey. “Kitty is the right person to bring the X-Men into the future, to herald in the next era of the X-Men,” Guggenheim told us in a phone interview. “We are post the war with the Inhumans. The X-Men are sort of at a crossroads. They’re at a point where they are trying to decide, is there a future for the X-Men? And Kitty is very much of the mindset that there is a future for the X-Men and it’s a bright future.”
Guggenheim is best known as co-showrunner and writer on The CW’s Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow and previously worked on the adjectiveless X-Men book in 2014 featuring an all-female cast of characters.
