It’s been two years since Rocksteady Studios relaeased a Batman game and since last years Batman: Arkham Origins (produced by Warner Bros. Games Montréal) wasn’t well-received by the masses, the Batman Arkham franchise has returned home to Rocksteady and today the official trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight was released. Check it out below:
Teased as the finale to the series by Rocksteady, the game trailer begins with Scarecrow telling Gotham City it needs to be evacuated or he’ll show them all “their worst fears.”If you remember at the end of Batman: Arkham Asylum, we saw in a post-credits scene, that a crate of Titan formula floating in the ocean around the asylum was grabbed by a hand which had surfaced. To me that hand looked like it belonged to the Scarecrow.
Aside from Scarecrow, we see other familiar faces from the Dark Knight’s rogue gallery. There’s Harley Quinn-who also was revealed to be a playable character for those who preorder-and Two Face. We also see the Batmobile-which is playable and drivable-driving around an enormous Gotham City. If you thought Arkham City was big, well you’re in for a treat! Thomas Wayne’s will is also read in the trailer.
Here’s the official WBIE’s description about the game:
“In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever. Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.”
