The WALL STREET JOURNAL announced DC’s first post-REBIRTH event, JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUICIDE SQUAD. FLASH’s Joshua Williamson will write and NEW 52 JUSTICE LEAGUE artist Jason Fabok will the draw the six issue mini-event, which will ship bi-weekly in December, and finish out weekly in January. The story will also cross over into SUICIDE SQUAD 9 and 10, and JUSTICE LEAGUE 12 and 13.
The team’s class when Batman, after several encounters with Amanda Waller in his own series, questions the need for TASK FORCE X when the JUSTICE LEAGUE is already on hand. GEOFF JOHNS helped Williamson lay-out the series and which characters will share the spotlight. The story will center around BATMAN, HARLEY QUINN, DEADSHOT, and KILLER FROST, though the cast of both teams (and more) will play a role. “That’s been one of the biggest challenges, easily: trying to make sure every character has a moment, but isn’t forced,” Williamson said, and will explore themes of corruption and redemption, adding “Do you believe in second chances? I think that’s a big part of what Rebirth has been about.”
The story is a part of the REBIRTH continuity, and will have lasting effects on the DCU, including the relaunch of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA as on ongoing. JL of A was originally announced as part of the inaugural REBIRTH laucnh, but has yet to hit stands.
