It’s official! We will finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen as Warner Bros. has announced who will play the Amazon princess in the upcoming untitled Batman vs. Superman sequel to Man of Steel. So who is it? Drum roll please…
Wonder Woman/Diana Prince will be played by 28 year-old Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot. Aside from playing small roles, she’s best known for her role as Gisele Yashar in Fast and Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6.
Speaking about the casting Man of Steel director Zack Synder said, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”
Rumors have been stirring for a while now on whether Wonder Woman would finally appear in the Man of Steel sequel. Back in September, Latino Review’s El Mayimbe broke a scoop that Bruce Wayne would have a love interest in the film and he mentioned among other suggestions that maybe the love interest could be Wonder Woman. He kept updating the scoop and in November via Justin Kroll at Variety, he gave fans the names of the top four contenders and the first name on the list was Gal Gadot which has now been confirmed by Warner Bros.
Now that it’s official, how do you fans feel about the news? Are you excited that Wonder Woman’s going to be in a live action film finally after all these years? Do you think Gal Gadot will make an excellent kick-ass superhero?
The film will hit theaters July 15, 2015 and will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
It’s about damn time!
She may look like her in the face but she looks way to frail to be an Amazon. And why isn’t this movie called Trinity if Wonder Woman is in it too? I wasn’t even aware she would be in it. Now I find out she’s getting second and third billing as a love interest?
From what I’ve heard (which is undoubtedly subject to change if not complete BS to begin with), she’ll be a cameo and probably as Diana, not Wonder Woman.
