Game/Life Balance U.S. Podcast Episode 17: Meet The GonnaGeek Network

Facebooktwitterredditmail

In this very special episode, members of the GonnaGeek Network from across the U.S. join Cody at WGN Radio in Chicago to discuss their podcasting panel at C2E2, nerd convention highlights, what they’ve been watching on Netflix lately, and more.

Show Notes:

GonnaGeek.com Podcast #143 – C2E2 GonnaGeek Network Roundtable Special Episode

Facebooktwitterredditmail

It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here! A few weeks ago the crew told you about how those GonnaGeek Network members who met up at C2E2 were invited by the GREAT #VERIFIED Cody Gough (of Game/Life Balance US Fame) to record a round table free-form discussion episode at the WGN Studios. It’s time to finally release it and where better than on the OFFICIAL GonnaGeek.com Podcast?

A special note to keep in mind that this is a true free-form discussion episode and in turn (aside from some bleeping) the episode runs it’s natural round-table course. We hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did recording it. We’ll return next week with a regular edition of the GonnaGeek.com Podcast.

Want to chime in for a future show? Call 567-343-GEEK(4335), tweet @gonnageek, email podcast@gonnageek.com or like us at Facebook.com/gonnageek.

This Week’s Hosts: Stephen Jondrew, Stargate Pioneer, Chris Ferrell, Cody Gough, Naki, Michelle Ealey, Beef, Willie D Nelson and Sunkast.

Life Stuff

  • Cody discusses the panel he sat on at the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), GonnaGeek Network Presents: Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life
  • Cody talks about the benefits of being on a network and how cool it was that there was a huge crowd at C2E2 that really actively participated in the panel

GonnaGeek C2E2 “Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” Panel Clip – Zencastr

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Our GonnaGeek C2E2 Panel “Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” on podcasting was full of fantastic questions from the audience – including one which lead to a discussion the beta application Zencastr. Watch as SP and Chris tackle this question.

Note that this clip is in a fairly raw state. We are still collecting all our footage and we hope to have a full (more produced) version out later this month.

GonnaGeek C2E2 “Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” Panel Clip – Cody is Better Than Jon

Facebooktwitterredditmail

While the GonnaGeek C2E2 Panel “Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” was full of facts, it wasn’t without it’s share of fun too. In this clip, our panel was asked about quality – both audio and content wise. Cody Gough shares his experience on how he continues improving.

Note that this clip is in a fairly raw state. We are still collecting all our footage and we hope to have a full (more produced) version out later this month.

C2E2 Podcast Panel a Success – Thank You to All Who Joined Us

Facebooktwitterredditmail

While the C2E2 panel “Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” may now officially be in the rear view mirror, we are pleased to say that we still have post-panel content arriving soon to GonnaGeek.com. The attendance and audience participation at our panel exceeded all expectations and we sincerely thank everyone who attended. Fantastic questions were asked and the audience participation is one of the key aspects which made the experience so much fun.

“Everyday Podcasting For Your Everyday Life” C2E2 Panelists. L to R Naki, Willie Nelson, Cody Gough (#Verified), Beef, Stargate Pioneer and Chris Ferrell

Our panelists are now taking some time to relax and enjoy the rest of the C2E2 happenings but they still managed to send over some initial footage to share with you. Clips of the panel will arrive later this weekend but first we want to highlight some of the initial feedback received.

Let’s start with some of the tweets we’ve received…

We also received a post-panel experience write up from ‘Peter G’ of Bleeding Cool:

The room was actually surprisingly filled. It was held on the fifth floor, in a much quieter area of the convention floor, but people were lining up well before the hosts went in to start setting things up. The C2E2 apps and MyShow planners are Reed’s version of Brother Eye, and they track what people say they are interested in. And it quickly became obvious that this was going to be a hit.

The room filled, and the panel started, helmed entirely by people from various GonnaGeek podcasts. The moderator was Naki, co-host of All Things Good And Nerdy (and, in the interest of disclosure, a guest star on my One True Pairing animated series). Sitting in the hot seats were Stargate Pioneer, Cody Gough, Chris Ferrell, Willie Nelson, and Beef (that’s his handle, not a Misfits Of Science reference). The audience was filled with aspiring podcasters. In fact, other than a two year old kid, I think I may have been the only person there WITHOUT a podcast.

We encourage you to check out the entire write up over on the Bleeding Cool website.

Thank you again to everyone who came by and supported the panel. Keep your eyes on GonnaGeek.com for more clips. In addition, we hope to have the full panel video online in about a week (give or take).

Starling Tribune – Season 4 Edition – Episode 14: Code Of Silence (A CW Network Arrow Television Show Fan Podcast)

The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network

This week the Starling Tribune Reporters find themselves looking back a lot to season 1 Arrow, talk about the current episode Code Of Silence, and look into the future of the show. Just in case you forgot that Oliver keeps secrets but doesn’t like to, Arrow points it out again this week. Back on the island Conklin succumbs to Oliver Queen’s knife fighting skills (if only Conklin trained better Ryan Robbins would still be with the show). As the flashbacks progress will the show really be able to reconcile season one Ollie with Flashback Ollie? “Bam Bam” came through amazingly with the fight chorography this week and the reporters love it when he comes to direct and episode. The reporters are also surprised at how fast Malcolm Merlyn integrated with H.I.V.E.. The turn to help Feilicty walk about was really fast and really Terrific! The rpoertes wish for a Cisco’ed Spartan helmet soon. Neil’s ARGUS t-shirt seems safe from the dumpster bin…at least for now. Alex, the political intern, was sorely missed this week…unless he was cleaning up a Damian Darhk mess. The reporters are cringing for William Clayton and fear the worst for Samantha Clayton (#AnnaHopkinsForCaptainMarvel). This week was again a big shakeup for the reporter’s “Who’s In The Grave” and the trio rate and debate the villains of the week. The reporters wrap up the episode with a list of Easter Eggs, Arrow News, Feedback and comments from the chat. Thank you for downloading and listening!

Starling Tribune – Season 4 Edition – Episode 13: Sins Of The Father (A CW Network Arrow Television Show Fan Podcast)

The Official Arrow Podcast of the Gonna Geek Network

In a decidedly bittersweet week for Arrow, The Starling Tribune reporters Chris, Neil and Stargate Pioneer drop down their thoughts on what occurred on the screen within the episode “Sins Of The Father” and off the create with the battling DC and Arrow creative teams. The reporters run down the Father-Son/Daughter sets on the show and attempt to pick the “best” father of the bunch. The trio also attempt to identify the episode theme which has Neil confused and both SP and Chris going in opposite directions. Malcolm shows his true colors – again – and Oliver has to decide on how to deal with it (#severancepackage). The fight scenes were some of the most intense and complex since The Siege at the end of season 2 in Starling City. Nyssa and Laurel’s relationship continues to transform and possible strengthen as comrades. The Reporters also analyze The Calculator’s dual reveals to Felicity and Overwatch and how Felicity responds in kind. This week was a big shakeup for the reporter’s “Who’s In The Grave” predictions and Chris throws out a second hashtag for the episode #WallerStillLives. The reporters wrap up the episode with a list of Easter Eggs, Arrow News, Feedback and comments from the chat. Thank you for downloading and listening!

Stephen Jondrew The Slade Wilson story lines are some of the best stories in all of the Arrowverse. I think that it’s important for people to remember the history of the universe (CW) and this feels like a kick in the face to that. I have always enjoyed Batman and Superman movies to some degree, I really enjoyed Man of Steel. However, actions like this (if true) kind of make me wish that the upcoming films flop and we see them disappear for a decade. Ya, i said it.
