Happy Thorsday people of Midgard! Tis been a few weeks and the break was long needed. But rejoice! I Lady Adina hast returned with a new entry! Today I speak of the lovers of Thor. Yes our thunderer has had several romances but these five mighty women have been his main interests for many a time. And here they are:
Lady Sif:
No lover has been more significant to Thor than our Lady Sif. This warrior is Thor’s principal love interest but Midgard and other women have gotten in the way of their love. In spite of these things, their love much like life has manages to find a way.
Jane Foster:
This lady had many adventures with the thunderer. A nurse by trade, she was involved in love triangle with Thor and Dr. Donald Blake, unaware that they were one and the same. One day Thor takes Jane to Asgard where she was granted immortality and goddess status. Unfortunately the All-Father disapproved of the union and Jane was stripped of her powers and promptly returned to Midgard without memories of the realm eternal. But fret not my dear readers, for love truly dost conquer all and soon she was reunited with her former lover.
The Enchantress:
One of the Mighty Thor’s most notable enemies and lovers. She has tried over and over again to seduce Thor while eliminating her competitors with her magic, but she has always failed. Once Thor willingly had a romance with her! It was during a time when Odin abandoned Thor on Earth without his godly powers. Eventually Thor and the Enchantress were married when he reclaimed the throne of Asgard. In a dark future that Amora helped her husband create, they ruled both Asgard and Midgard with an iron fist and even had a child named Magni. But all of this became undone when Thor visited the past in order to prevent this future. Talk about heartbreak!
Lorelei:
Just like her sister the Enchantress, Lorelei has also used magic to gain the affections of Thor. With Loki’s help, she gave Thor an elixir that would cause him to fall for her. However this did not work as her sibling’s jealousy caused Lorelei to fall in love with Loki instead and Heimdall exposed the plot.
Brunnhilde:
Against the wishes of the All-Father, this valkyrie attempted to save Thor’s life when he was incarnated as Sigmund. She failed but was able to save Sigmund’s pregnant wife Sieglinde. As a result Odin punished Brunnhilde by taking her powers and casting her into a deep sleep. Eventually, Thor wakes her as the reincarnated Siegfried the son of Sigmund and Sieglinde. The two become lovers but under the influence of magic, Siegfried betrays Brunnhilde. Despite this betrayal, Brunnhilde still loves him and jumps into his blazing funeral pyre after he is killed.
Moved by this selfless act, Odin fully restores Brunnhilde and Thor but wipes their memories, because he’s the All-Father and does whatever he wants.
