Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver, and Brendan Gleeson, Shymalan’s third film since his breakout hit The Sixth Sense was a box office success but disappointed critics, with Roger Ebert placing it on his “Most Hated” list. Yet with a haunting score from James Newton Howard, featuring violinist Hilary Hahn, and cinematography by Roger Deakins, there’s plenty to speak of. Except for Those We Don’t Speak Of.
