Better Podcasting #187 – Online Audio Recording Service Roundup

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Following up to last week’s episode about Hangouts on Air going away, this week we’re going to run down a series of online audio recording services. Before we get there though, we’ll talk a bit about what they are, advantages of them, and some things to watch out for when selecting. Lastly, we’ll run down each service and some of the features that they offer.

Finally, in this week’s Better Podback, we run down the highlights from this week’s feedback – including someone who sent an email about Stephen’s obscure pop culture reference last week.

Avatar ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Stephen is a west coast Canadian who enjoys pretty much all things geeky. Whether it's podcasting, playing with tech or just watching a great re-run of Star Trek, Stephen is probably interested in it. GonnaGeek is the brain child of Stephen. You see, for years he has helped run a variety of specific genre websites (such as comics, Star Trek, etc) but sometimes he found himself needing to talk more than just comics... that's why he created GonnaGeek. Stephen is currently the Producer, Editor and a Co-Host of the Official GonnaGeek.com Show (www.gonnageek.com/show/) and Better Podcasting (www.betterpodcasting.com). He also runs www.thepodcastforum.com

  1. Hey guys,
Love the show ever since I found it a few months ago.

I wanted to add something to this conversation. I used Ringr for a while for just the reasons you shared. However, it’s important to note that ALL of the recordings are at 22.05 kHz. The 44.1 kHz option in the Premium plan is simply the 22.05 kHz up-sampled to 44.1.

I went back and forth with their support for a while on this one and I understand why they did it. But I think that there can be some confusion if people download a 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz file, not realizing that it’s simply an up-sampled file.

Again, thanks for all you do and love the show.

    Bryan

  2. Hi guys, thanks for including Cleanfeed in the roundup. Good news! That’s actually the full commercial rate for Cleanfeed Pro; for hobbyists it’s $22. See cleanfeed.net where we keep up-to-date info.

And of course if that’s still too much, we look forward to having you (at no cost) on the regular Cleanfeed.
