This week we’re back to general movie legends after a month of heists and capers, and what better place to start then with a revival of one of the most legendary movie franchises – Rocky. A decade after Rocky Balboa purportedly ended the franchise, and forty years after the original title bout, director Ryan Coogler brings Rocky’s rival’s son into the ring in Creed. Frequent Coogler collaborator Michael B. Jordan plays Adonis Creed, while Sly Stallone himself steps back into the role that made him famous, and garnered his second Oscar nomination for playing the titular pugilist. Though the film artfully blends the hero worship of Rocky the fictional boxer with that of Rocky the real-life movie star, does Creed stand toe-to-toe with the original or does it pull its punches? Let’s get ready to rumble!
