We’ve got another DC Universe film on the horizon! And we already know one of the main characters it’ll feature as well as which actor will take on the role.  Black Adam will star in the upcoming Shazam film, and Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock announced that he will be the actor who will portray this powerful villain onscreen via his Twitter account earlier today:

While we still don’t know who will play Black Adam’s adversary Shazam or who will play Billy Batson, Shazam’s alter ego, this is awesome casting news. I know there are many like myself who would love to see Johnson also play Shazam. The film will be produced by New Line, a auxiliary of Warner Bros. Black Adam is the son of the Pharoh who is driven mad and becomes power hungry.  If you want to get a quick introduction to Black Adam and Shazam I suggest you watch the animated short film entitled Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam which is part of the DC Showcase Original Shorts Collection DVD.
