And here it is:
Honestly? As of right now my opinion is meh. I like the way the turtles look physically. The nose is a little bit weird. I only heard two of their voices-mostly Mikey’s-and that sounded good. I’m not really a Megan Fox fan but I did like that she was wearing the yellow jacket. I’m crossing my fingers that her acting is good. I haven’t like the fact that the Shredder has been white-washed. I’m hoping that perhaps William Fichtner isn’t really our favorite spiked metal head and that he’s just a puppet for the real dude who’s calling the shots. Overall this was a brief trailer, I need more to get a clearer vision of the film. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blasts into theaters on August 8th.
Megan Fox automatically removes April as a character. The Turtles look awesome but the bamboo, spartan, aztec belts and chestpieces look ridiculous and make no sense to a lifelong fan like myself.
Totally agree w/ the April On’Neil post Scott. I’m cautiously optimistic about this right now. I think I can deal with the cosmetic changes re: armour as “improvised armour from the sewers”, and I’m pretty happy with the turtles themselves.
What I don’t get are all the negative the comments on the inter webs that they’ve gone too dark and aren’t fairly representing the turtles. These folks are kinda pissing me off.
Background: Back in the day I started collecting from TMNT from issue #2, as well as the clones it spawned (does anyone remember Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters?). We played the PnP TMNT RPG (a lot), and I even cosplayed as Leo back before it was called cosplaying (side note: in 1990 some homes in a 3-km radius may have donated plastic trash-can lids until I nailed down the shell paint scheme).
I’ve come to grips with the fact that the turtles would never reclaim the all-red-sash, grim tone of the original Eastman & Laird vision. Slightly grittier, with less “Cowabunga”, will definitely not hurt my feelings. Compared to the real original (not the cartoons), this trailer isn’t dark. They’re still colour coded, the downhill scene is lighthearted, and the mock feint by Ms. Fox is definitely an attempt at comic relief targeted at the younger audiences. It’s still a Nickelodeon production, which guarantees it won’t be a Dark Knight clone. Leo won’t slice off any limbs, Raph won’t be a wolverine-inspired badass. It’s PG-13 and listed as an action-comedy.

Great article on Jezebel showing some solid photoshop skills applied to “fixing” the turtles in the upcoming movie: http://groupthink.jezebel.com/there-is-still-time-fix-this-michael-bay-1556428382/@charliejane
I gotta admit, when you show it like that, I miss the original a bit more…
