Happy Tuesday Folks! The best thing about fall has to be the new shows, the worse is this head cold that seems to get worse as the night goes on. Though it did give me a great “popcorn” recipe for the night, so its not all that bad. Also the two main shows tonight The Originals and Shield were mind blowing. So if you are ready lets strap in and head to the Hub, with Agent Skyy.
SHIELD: The Hub
Tonight on Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D, we find ourselves as confused as Skyy was. The show starts off with your typical extraction mission that the team then transport to the Hub. Which appears to be the center of SHIELD when it
comes to the agents and also to their secrets. While their Ward and Fitz are assigned a top secret mission, omg LEVEL 8 how many clearance levels can one organization have? Because of the trouble that Sky had gotten into previously she is not allowed anywhere near the mission briefing, but our two agents get sent to defuse a bomb before and air assault team goes in to to nuke the place. Before Ward and Fitz leave Coulson pulls each to the side and tells them to look out for each other. As Skyy and Simmons wait on the team to come back Skyy realizes that its more than just a bomb being deactivated. She and Simmons devise a way to find out what is actually going on with the mission because every time they ask they are told to follow the system. Using their skills together they access a restricted control panel allowing them to gain access to the records of the mission. This is where Skyy realizes that a team is not going after their friends after the cleanup occurs. She confronts Coulson about it and he is upset thinking that she was trying to get information on her parents, but she was honestly just worried about her team. She ask him if he knew they would not be coming back? His response, “its classified” But in the next scene Agent Coulson storms, we as gracefully as Agent Coulson does everything, demanding why as their commanding officer he wasn’t informed that they were not supposed to come out alive. Meanwhile on the ground with a few hiccups, Fitz and Ward are able to secure the bomb and then turn it’s power core into a gun so they can fight their way out once they realize SHIELD was planning on leaving them there. In the end Agent coulson, evacuates his own team.
I have to give it to Skyy she is really becoming a good agent and team player. I Think discovering that her parent may have been involved with SHIELD has cemented her loyalty to the team at least for now. My prediction though, and its cause I don’t trust SHIELD never have and probably never will, is that SHIELD is the reason her parents are gone. Adahy made mention that Coulson may be part of her history including the possibility of being her father. Skyy I am your Father. I hope not personally but that is because I hate when multiple show have a similar theme about them for example the Anonymous references in quite a few shows this fall. Along the lines of common themes though we can move into The Originals because where Coulson didn’t trust his team Elijah didn’t trust his brother.
The Originals: Bloodletting
In tonights episode of the OrIginals on the CW, Vampire Diaries fans have a familiar face show up in New Orleans. Tyler Lockwood, the werewolf turned hybrid by Klaus in season 3 of the Vampire Diaries shows up and kidnaps Hayley. Now if you’re a fan of Vampire Diaries, you know that Hayley and Tyler were good friends during the fourth season, so of course she is going to let him into the home without thinking too much about it. Instead he
kidnaps her and takes her to a remote part of the bayou where he has actually found her werewolf clan. He shows her that her people are living in fear because of Marcel and the Vampires have ran them from the city. According to Tyler he has spent all summer running with werewolf packs around the country and one happened to have a witch with them that had the same prophetic dream of the hybrid baby and how with its blood Klaus would be able to rebuild his army. To test this theory Tyler jabs her with a syringe and then forces it on his werewolf volunteer to see if the blood would turn him into a hybrid which it does. When it works Tyler starts to try to kill Hayley and the baby but the new hybrid protects them as if he was sired to Hayley. During the ruckus, Hayley is able to free her bonds and flees into the woods . In Marcel’s court he is hosting a fight night for a new slot for a daylight ring but the show is cut short by a pissed off baby’s daddy and uncle, that believe Marcel is responsible for hayley being missing. He tells him that he did stop by and chat with Hayley but he left her there. He tells him them doesn’t know where she is but offers to help find her since he is still fond of his sire. He has a witch perform a locator spell that sends them to the bayou after Hayley. It its here that they find a truck with a familiar scent, Tyler’s. The brothers decide to split up to cover more ground presumably also Klaus is getting tired of the dog jokes Elijah has been making. Hayley stops for a moment to catch her breath and senses that she is not alone so she jumps from behind the tree almost impaling Elijah who she ecstatically hugs. They go to head home and Hayley tells Elijah that new hybrids can be made. Klaus meets up with Tyler while they are searching for Hayley and a fight ensues. Tyler feels that Klaus has destroyed his life. Um no Tyler that was your doing, not Klaus. They Brawl for a little while and it is apparent that Tyler will never win a one on one fight with Klaus. Klaus tells him to go live out his days. Heading back dragging the dead hybrid he finds Hayley and Elijah wanting answers. Hayley explains that tyler took her blood to make the hybrid but it was sired to her, and demands to know if he knew about it. Klaus never says he didn’t but is enraged that his own Family, would believe so little of him that they would take Tyler’s word without asking him about it first. Because of Klaus’s temperament he bites Elijah knowing it will make him sick but not kill his brother before leaving them in the bayou. At the end Tyler goes to marcel and tells him about Hayley’s baby and that it would mean the end to all vampires.
So a lot more happened in this episode that is important but that was the main storyline. Josh, the vampire that Klaus has compiled, is free of compulsion however, he also knows Divina’s location and i think that is going to cause her to come into some danger in the coming episodes. Adahy and I was discussing that, if they do the harvesting will the girls that were sacrificed come back as humans not witches? Also I try to separate the two in my mind but if in the Vampire Diaries they manage to destroy the other side won’t all the witches in New Orleans lose their magic anyways? Sophie told us in an early episode that they draw on their dead ancestors for powers take away the ancestors and poof no more magic. Just something that has been driving me crazy. Also I have been tweeting and Facebooking this all week and to quote the great Porthos form Disney’s Three Musketeers “Go home,(Tyler). Find a wench, raise fat babies, live a good long life.” I don’t feel he belongs down in New Orleans unless they are just trying to kill him off the franchise. Tyler its a fight you will lose, same as Rebekah told Marcel in this episode if you kill Klaus you die anyways. So don’t be an idiot. And the jab he made at Klaus that Caroline will never forgive Klaus for what he did, man dude you don’t know women do you. You can rape, pillage, and burn a country to the ground and a woman will normally forgive you. You break a woman’s heart like you just did in the last episode of the Vampire Diaries, you automatically will be hated for eternity. You only have yourself to thank for making Klaus Caroline’s last love. One last thing that gets me is how would the Hybrids be the end of the vampires? You have to a werewolf to start not a vampire, and there are plenty of vampires out there to create more vampires not like they have to be born like the werewolfs. So more lies from a broken boy to start a war he shouldn’t be in.
I didn’t get to watch Ravenswood due time constraints, I will try to catch it up by the weekend so keep your eyes out for that. Now for our popcorn of the night its more of an air quote popcorn. Though it has popcorn in it, its is not the main ingredient. btw if you follow this recipe it makes a lot especially if you’re only feeding 2.
Popcorn Soup with Cheddar Croutons
Provided by: Chef Cory Vitiello
-
1 small onion, small dice
-
1 leeks, white parts only, small dice
-
2 cloves chopped garlic
-
1 tablespoons + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
2 sprigs of thyme, chopped
-
1 cup corn kernels
-
2 cups popcorn, popped
-
3cups chicken stock
-
kosher salt
-
black pepper, finely ground
-
pinch cayenne pepper
-
3/4 cup grated, old white cheddar cheese
Directions
In a heavy bottomed saucepan, heat 2 T of butter over medium heat. Add the onion, leek and garlic; sweat the vegetables for approximately 7 minutes, taking care not to brown them.
Add the corn, 1 cup of the popped corn, salt, pepper, thyme, cayenne and chicken stock. Cover with a lid and simmer for 30-40 minutes, adding more stock if necessary.
While the soup is cooking, take the remaining pop corn and place on a baking sheet. Sprinkle half the cheese on the pop corn and bake for 5 minutes in a 350F oven, or just long enough for the cheese to melt and slightly toast. Reserve for garnishing the soup.
Ladle the hot soup into a blender with 1 T cold butter and remainder of cheese. Blend on high until the soup is a velvety consistency. Adjust with salt and pepper. Serve straight away with the popcorn garnish.
