Welcome to another Sunday episode of Popcorn and Primetime. I do apologize for missing a few episodes last week. The flu really kicked my butt. Within our new episodes line up tonight, we have a brand new series Almost Human, a synthetic officer and a human officer are trying to figure out where they belong in present day crime fighting. We will also head back to Neverland to fight Pan and his Lost Boys in the final showdown for Henry’s life. The big question will Rumple have to die in order to stop Pan and save his grandson? We finished the night of shows with witches of East End and the plot thickens as we find out more of Dash and Killian legacy. So we have our popcorn a remote and a nice warm blanket and if you’re ready let’s get started.
Almost human: pilot
In our first episode of almost human we join the forces of 2048 police force in which all officers are required to drive and serve the population with an artificial intelligent partner, also referred to as synthetic. The show starts 17 months prior to the premiere. John Kennex, our human is a veteran cop and is infiltrating a structure in which
his synthetic goes to help another group, this action causes John and his human partner to to be to be penned under gunfire . This gunfire will cause John to lose his leg and his partner to be killed. We come to present day 2048 and John is trying to remember what happened on that day. From his recollection he remembers his synthetic engaging the enemy and therefore causing the death of John’s entire squad. As the reports back to work John is assigned to a new synthetic. The synthetic follows him to a futuristic Chinatown where John is using black market medicine to recover his memory. The synthetic stop the car and questions John why he is there, notes no food or alcohol on John’s breath. The next day John is in the car with the synthetic being grilled at his whereabouts so John throws the synthetic from the car. Back at the precinct the head director informs John that he must have a synthetic to be back on the force. Since there are no current model synthetics they assign him to Dorian a synthetic that has been decommissioned for 4 years and 3 months. Dorians model is being shipped to NASA to be re signed to a cleaning detail. For their first mission as a team, Dorian and John are investigating an armored truck heist that was transporting synthetic DNA. A fellow officer is kidnapped during the heist that will later be killed do to a chemical reaction caused by the synthetic DNA. The main objective of the syndicate was the target the police station because of evidence that was assigned to the kidnapped officer. It is Dorian emotions that allows him to think outside the box and make a perfect pair with John.
So this is the first of a two-part premiere with the second part airing tomorrow at 8 pm on Fox. I don’t want to jump the gun but I’m really in love with this episode. This series seems very well made and left me begging for more. At least I only have to wait till tomorrow night. The comedy that Dorian and Johns interaction bring to the serious of a police drama makes me think of the dynamic relationship between Abbey and Ichabod from Sleepy Hollow. Both seem out of their element however the bantering between the two make it worth the watch. I believe, however I like police dramas, this will become one of my top shows. What did you all think about the show?
Once upon a time: think lovely thoughts
Tonight on once upon a time, we find out the daddy issues that caused Rumpelstiltskin to become known as the dark one. Tonights episode deals with flashbacks of Rumpelstiltskin childhood. Before we get too far into the episode I want to make a quick side note here, Rumpelstiltskin is by far one of my favorite characters here on o
nce upon a time. He is always intrigued me and I’m glad that we get the finally see his good side and what made him go dark. Much of this episode is a giant flashback , ever we do find out the pan is rumplestilskins father. WTF, I didn’t see that coming. I guess we should have seen that coming because the doll the rumble dreams about, the blue stick doll, Rumple called Peter Pan. We find out, that abandoning once child at a young age runs in the family. Pan ran off to the land of dreams because he did not want to take responsibility for his son Rumpelstiltskin. When Peter Pan found out that he need it the hearts of his descendants to stay young and immortal Rumple already had a son of his own. Apparently when Pan came to the village, and take the children that would become the Lost Boys, he was actually after Neil. When the team unites in the present day, Neil reveals to the group that Henry is supposed to kill Rumple. They make him make many promises that are very one sided but includes a way to save Prince Charming. We also find out that Weddy came to Neverland to save Neil many years ago.
So with this being my first season of once upon a time, I’m starting to get really confused, and tired, of everyone Being family. I wanted to have a true bad guy. Why can’t Pan just be evil. Tonight reveal I honestly expected to be the midseason finale. It leaves the question what will be the next bad guy, because Pan seems to be the worst villain to date.
Witches of East End: Unburied
Tonight on witches of East End, destiny and the kiss are finally revealed. It comes out that Freya and Killian kiss during the first episode at the engagement party. Because of this information and in my opinion his own ego, Dash
runs off to London. I personally feel Dash finally got a taste of his own selfishness. Her hiding her kiss with Killian, in my eyes, is no different then hiding that he was engaged prior to. Freya turn to her mom, for some late night mother/daughter bonding, over a tarot card reading. The spread reveals that Freya is destined to fall in love with both brothers one her soulmate the other her destroyer.
Meanwhile in East End, Penelope reanimate the court of the 1906 Ingrid, to convince Wendy to turn over a golden snake, then kill her. Thanks to Leo’s intervention Joanna is able to stop the situation, kinda. During the confrontation wendy is killed, but because of her cat curse, comes back to life. However this time Wendy’s necklace turns red, meaning she is on her last life.
Its okay this was a great episode, except I’m a little upset that wendy does not have more lives. Her death have a tendency to be comic relief. But the drama around her have to be more cautious, is expected since there are only two episodes left in the season. This is one thing I dislike about cable television. There seasons are so much shorter then standard primetime television.
So overall sunday was a great night for TV. I was told that The Walking Dead on AMC was awesome. For tonight’s popcorn we are going with a bit of comfort food, everyone loves PB and J.
