Welcome back for another issue Popcorn and Primetime. I do apologize for the missing our review yesterday I did not get to watch all the shows, but none of them were worth missing. To start off tonight I actually want to do a little bit of ranting. I’m actually highly IRATE at the People of Fox. According to TV Guide in their article about Glee changing times they said and I quote, ” Meanwhile, The Following returns with a two-night event starting Sunday, Jan. 19 at 10/9c, following the NFC Championship game. The second night of its two-night premiere event continues with its timeslot premiere on Monday at 9/8c, following the season finale of Sleepy Hollow at 8/7c.” come on Fox this is one of the best shows of the fall season and you’re only giving it 13 episodes? WTF? This really scares me honestly I do not want this to go the way of Dollhouse, Firefly, or Prey if you remember that show. I love this series I set aside my Mondays for the show.
Okay with that rant over, let’s move into the real reason I went to TV Guide. Since next week is a holiday week we have limited shows to review so our schedules going to be Monday and Tuesday night only. Other than those two nights, Sunday is the only night with a new show, witches of East End
One last thing before we get to our review, a shout out to Mr Hugh Jackman, we at gonnageek, want to wish you a speedy recovering time after your cancer scare. From all your fans we can’t wait to see you on the silver screen.
So if you are all ready let’s dive in to our nightly shows.
Arrow: State vs queen
Tonight on at Arrow we deal with vertigo once more, this time though it has been modified so that the original antidote doesn’t work. In State vs queen the episode with a flashback to the last season’s finale where Monica confession moments before the complete and utter destruction of the glades this time though it from the view of the control room outside of Count Vertigo’s jail cell is broken open by the quake. The first to show signs of infection with Vertigo is Diggle. When they follow the patterns of the outbreaks Felicity is able to trace the drug being distributed via a flu shot mobile. She takes it upon herself to verify it since Arrow is busy being Oliver in the courtroom of his mother’s trial. As they wait for the verdict on his mother Oliver receives a call from Count Vertigo on Felicity’s phone. Oliver rushing off to help, and when he shows up it is apparent that’s the only way to stop the count is the kill him. Arrow choses his secret love, over his oath. Back at the courtroom, Oliver arrives back just in time for a verdict of not guilty, to the dismay of Oliver and Laurel. The revelation that Moira and Malcolm had been intimate with each other, in the final minutes of “State v. Queen” it’s also revealed that Malcolm Merlyn is not only still alive but also the biological father of Thea Queen.
So definitely a great episode, I have not read the comics, so I was blindsided by the fact that Mrs Queen had an affair. However in the modern day that doesn’t seem like it should be held against her more of an argument that she was even more under his control because he had her sleeping with him. I mean that’s leverage, most black mailers have dirt on their victims that make them accomplices in the crimes. One thing, positive that came out, is that arrow truly loves Felicity and we know from last episode she loves him.
Tomorrow People: Limbo
One thing about CW, when midseason hits you are hooked. Bring us to another great episode, of the Tomorrow People, this one does more with the repercussions of last episode. We start this episode with Stephen and Cara waking up in a fancy hotel room after having sex. John the romantic boyfriend also is returning from his trip with Russell and brings her a teddy bear He reveals Russell’s secret musical genius while Ingrid tracks a new breakout who is a rapist. John notes that having powers does not make someone a good person. Astrid tries to cheer Stephen up and encourages him to have some fun with his powers. He leads their gym class’ basketball team and uses his powers to win. Unfortunately, it backfires on him and his coach makes him play in the varsity basketball game. John feels guilty and thinks Cara hasn’t forgiven him for revealing that he can kill. He knows he has to earn her trust back and thinks they can get through anything. He confesses his love for her and Cara is left speechless Cara confesses to John that she slept with Stephen and feels terrible. He asks her if they’re even now. Meanwhile Astrid interrupts Jenny and Stephen, as the cops have arrived. Astrid is upset that he’s becoming a jerk and is getting closer to Cara. He overhears her thought that she’s in love with him and is stunned.. Stephan figures out that he rape victims are taken to the sewers by the new breakout based on his line of work . Here he confront the rapist letting the current victim go, however he gets his butt kicked and is being drowned as it calls out toCara even with the suppression cuff on his arm. In the moments before Stephen would have lost all though he sees his father in a blurry blue room telling him to save everyone with the word “Thanatos.” John pulls him from the sewer water, narrowly saves Stephen’s life using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Stephen brings in the breakout to Jedikiah and uses John’s line about destiny on Jedikiah. He is given his powers back but not before he is questioned about the rapist’s report that Cara was involved. John says that they’re good, since they both made out and tells Cara that Stephen is in love with her. He recognizes the need for Stephen due to the endgame and Cara admits that there is something between her and Stephen. Cara tells John that she loves him and all seems ok for the moment. Stephen confesses to Cara and John that he has seen his dad and wants to find him.
So like I said another great episode. My biggest issue, and it something Julie the writer and producer is big on, is the three way relationship. CW in general is big on the three way relationship. It just seems like it gets overdone. Why can’t we have a series or even just the season where two couples can be happy together and not one being a spin off of another relationship. I think this is why I love the Originals, cause as of right now , knock on wood, there are no 3 Way relationships. Now Astrid confuses me, if he can read her thoughts, does that mean she will be a break out. I think that might be the midseason finale here in 2 to 3 weeks or possibly even the season finale. That would definitely be one that they would have to save and could not turn into ultra.
American Horror Story coven: The Dead
Last night on American Horror Story the truth will set you free!! The night off for the flashback to Kyle and his frat brothers get it going to a tattoo parlor to get ink. Kyle declines and talks about wanting to be an engineer. We come to the present where we find Kyle chained in Cordelia’s greenhouse with his cobbled-together boy parts. The poor kid seems to be in pain. Zoe walks in, holding a gun behind her back planning to end his pain and her greed but is unable to kill him Kyle takes the gun and tries himself but Zoe wrestles the gun away from him not ready to lose him yet. With Madison back from the grave, she is having issues adjusting, she’s not quite a lot if she’s kind of in the animated state same as Kyle all she feels is emptiness inside. She is numb to everything, Madison complains, then goes about popping every drug that she can find. “One advantage of being kind of dead is that you don’t have to sweat warning labels,” she says.
Meanwhile Queenie seems the found new friend in Delphine . They make wisecracks about how each of them got into the car and what has led them to be there. In my opinion one of the best lines of the series so far has to come from Queenie in this scene””I dragged my ass all the way here from Detroit to be with my ‘sister witches’, and instead I’m sitting in a fast food parking lot at three in the morning with an immortal racist,” I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. If nothing else Delphine offers great comic relief . That night Hank is set on a mission to destroy the school, and is heavily armed to do so. Once awake, Cordelia goes tripping through the school and encounters Madison, who saves her from tumbling down a flight of stairs. When she grabs her, Cordelia sees a vision of how Fiona killed Madison. It is this revelation that has set Cordelia on her path of vengeance. She tells Zoe that they are going to kill Fiona before she kills all the students of school. When she goes to tell Madison what she has learnt she walks in on them kyle and her having sex. she later confesses that he is the only one that makes her feel anything. Ultimately, Queenie is seduced by the idea of the power that Marie promises and takes Delphine to Marie’s salon. “Girl, you’ve had that same old skanky hairstyle for over 150 years. It’s time to switch it up,” Queenie tells Delphine as they approach Marie’s place. Once inside, Queenie’s betrayal is revealed. Marie has Delphine locked in a cage, then Queenie makes an incision.
The last image we see is Marie, painting her face with blood. “Beautiful,” she say.
So … I like the episodes, but I have to say the last part where the showed voodoo queen using Delphine blood kinda made me sick to my stomach. Some things are really great, but in the same respect some things are little too far. Another part but I’m still trying to process is the zombies threesome. It’s bad enough that every show has a 3 way, but with zombies? Lol, I feel sick just thinking about it. Now audience, can anyone tell me how many episodes does American Horror Story normally have are we almost over? This seems like its coming to a head really soon and this show doesn’t do weird twist to make it last seasons
