So Wow!! If you have not watched Vampire Diaries yet big warning you will need tissues for this episode. The last 15 mins of the show I couldn’t see the screen I was crying so hard. This is by far the best episode of the season.
So we start this episode with some brotherly bonding, Damon and Stefan are driving in a stolen car, and Stefan is going over the journals, he had got the the riper years before giving up on reading it. He kids Damon, that the old Stefan must have been the “fun” brother. Damon asks if he trust him before speeding the car to max, and jack knifing it. The head injury didn’t jog the memories so they decided to go back to the Grill to have drinks, and Elena joins him but is kinda hurt that Damon hadn’t told him about her. Damon heads home because Jeremy says he needs to talk to Damon alone. Jeremy tells Damon that Bonnie died at the end of Season 4, for a moment it seemed Damon was going to become a psycho killer once more but instead he just hugs Jeremy sharing their hurt over a lost friend. Elena decided to relive some of their strongest memories with Stefan and find their way to the bridge. She tells him that she almost died on that bridge but he saved her and he saved Matt the second time at her wishes. He feels the pull of her and tries to kiss her but she says she can’t she’s with Damon. This sends Stefan on a riper spiral that includes attacking Jesse. Caroline talks him down and he goes home to burn his journals, before storming out. Elena becomes bent on having Bonnie fix him which is when Damon reveals Jeremy’s secret to Elena and the word spreads. Jeremy goes and tells Matt, and they gather to pay their respects at a tree stump. Here Bonnie, relayed by Jeremy, tells them that she is watching and she has been there even though they couldn’t see her for all their happy moments and she is proud of them. The show ends with Jesse being killed by the professor when he has vamp blood in his system.
I loved this episode and it gives me hope for the show,I was starting to feel as many others that they killed this show with the spin off. I am hoping for much more of this style of Vampire Diaries going forward. I was also so very happy that Elena is still choosing Damon over Stefan and they are going to fight this destiny thing and not just give in. I felt the commercial seemed like a cop out. Also I see key memories where left out like Stefan stealing Kathrine from Damon, and the other two times she was at the bridge that she almost died including one where Stefan almost killed Elena for revenge against Klaus. I also want to say I was a little disappointed that no where in this episode as great as it was did we have the song “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica since that was the title of the episode, I would have had it as the background song when Damon Crashes the car, personally.
For popcorn tonight to go with our salty tears and bring some comfort to a passing, we have a sweet delight.
Recipe: Buttery Brown Sugar Popcorn
- 1 cup unpopped popcorn (4-5 pre-popped)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 Tablespoon Kosher salt
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 250°
- Pop popcorn as directed
- Pour popped popcorn onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
- In the meantime, melt the butter in the skillet. Pour melted butter onto the baking sheet over the popped popcorn. Stir until evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle salt and brown sugar over the popcorn. Bake for 10 minutes. (Baking isn’t totally necessary, but it helps the brown sugar, butter mixture adhere to the popcorn better). Pour into a big bowl and enjoy!
