The best thing I read last week was Ghost Town #1 from the new Danger Zone imprint of the fantastic fellows at Action Lab Comics. Action Lab: Danger Zone is the new adult imprint bringing stories of a more unique and explosive view than the previous Action Lab offerings. Hell even the warning label is unique – WARNING: This book contains full frontal acts of manliness in the face of graphic terror. STAY ALERT!
The alertness of Ghost Town is brought to you by the following folks; Words by Dave Dwonch, Pictures by Justin Greenwood, and Colors by Brian Dyck. Keeping things very simple, it’s pretty, it’s well colored, and it’s full of wordy goodness. What more could you ask from a comic? How about a great, dare I say new, concept.
One of the big questions about advancing technology is when will we go too far? When will we create something to powerful for humans to control? Or if we can control it, what if it falls into the wrong hands? What if a scientist discovered time travel? What if a terrorist group got their hands on that time travel technology? What if that group was the American Reclamation Front? A.R.F. really? I would love to live in a world where Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert had a terrorist group called A.R.F. to craft jokes around. Honestly it is a scary idea. The American Reclamation Front, a terrorist group willing to bomb American cities with devices displaced through time until their demands are met. There are mind chilling ideas brought up in this book and conveyed through great panels of art. For a first issue this book delivers a lot, while also leaving the reader with a ton of questions. By which they got me hooked, this is a top of the pile read from this point forward. I can’t wait to see what Dwonch and crew have in store for us next issue.
Get down to your LCS(Local Comic Shop) and add this to your pull list. Or if you don’t have a handy dandy LCS where you pick up your favorite funny books you can book it on over to Comixology and download you a copy right from whatever device you are reading this on.
Enjoy, and STAY ALERT!
I saw some previews of this at C2E2 and liked what I saw. Going to have to pick it up.
You’ll like it. Dwonch has some big scary ideas in this book. In fact I haven’t been let down by an Action Lab book yet, give as many of them a shot as you can. They just plain make good comics.
