Turok 2 Seeds of Evil with Billy (CommanderCast)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

You know what’s always fun? Dinosaurs. Seriously, who doesn’t like dinosaurs? Crazy people, that’s who. So if you can get dinosaurs and aliens and giant guns and it all actually makes sense? How cool is that?

Listen in as Billy who sometimes writes for Commander Cast comes to talk about Turok 2 Seeds of Evil. And cool guns. And the fun of having a comic property published across about a gazillion different publishers.

Learn such things as:

  • What did Billy admit to doing that’s probably going to get him in trouble?
  • What do you name a dinosaur if you don’t have a word for dinosaur?
  • Would a bow and arrow really work all that well against a dinosaur?
  • And so much more!

Attack of the Feels: Electric Boogaloo

Facebooktwitterredditmail

As will become tradition here, the last episode of the year is a giant thank you to people who need to hear it. I certainly don’t mention everyone who deserves to be talked about, but I try.

People Mentioned in this Episode

We’ve made it through another year of being excellent to each other. But you still get homework again this year.

Your Podcast Homework

  1. Let the people who have had this kind of impact on your life know that you appreciate them
  2. Find a way to do that same thing for someone else

Music, as always, by Best Day, who won’t get mentioned here until he lets me know that he’s seen all the things I say about him in the show notes.

Men In Black With Chris Chávez And Cody Wagner (Believer Skeptic Podcast)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Aliens. It’s not just a meme, it’s an entire government cover up spanning years and years of extra terrestrial interactions and communications. Or it’s a giant load of crap. I don’t know, I’m not a fancy science guy with a fancy security clearance.

That’s where Chris and Cody from Believer Skeptic Podcast come in. Listen in as these two experts (or at least much more of an expert then I am) in the paranormal come on the show to talk about Men in Black, and a bit about men in black.

Learn such things as:

  • Oh shit there might really be men in black?
  • Is this the shortest comic series we’ll cover on the show?
  • Thing 3
  • And so much more!

Pizza Boyz with Spencer Scott Holmes

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Spencer Scott Holmes from Old Man Orange comes by the show to talk about his comic Pizza Boyz. Hear about the inspiration behind it and a bit about his process. And if I hadn’t been an idiot you could have heard it before the Kickstarter campaign was over. That one’s totally my fault.

Good news though, there’s always Pizza Boyz on Comixology so you can still read it if it’s something that you’d be into. And since you’re listening to this podcast I’m pretty sure it’s something you’d be into.

You can find Spencer on Twitter ?@SpencerSHolmes, Instagram @SpencerScottHolmes, and a whole slew of podcasts over at Old Man Orange.

The Crow City of Angles with Justin Williams (SuperTangent)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

A common ghost story I hear is that the spirit can’t pass on because of unfinished business. Which is insane because we all have that, but we’ll roll with it. Imagine if instead you came back in a corporeal form to get revenge on the people who had done you wrong. Oh yeah, and you’re basically immortal until the job is done?

Justin Williams from SuperTangent comes by to look at that exact situation in The Crow City of Angels. And no, you didn’t miss an episode for the first movie tie in game since they never made one of those.

Learn such things as:

  • Why did they make a game for the second Crow movie but not the first?
  • How much fan influence did this movie have?
  • Can you really compare this game to a Superman one?
  • Check out what else I’ve covered from Acclaim.
  • And so much more!

Turok Handheld Roundup with Blair Farrell (Comic Gamers Assemble)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

I know, one of the problems with the show is that the handheld versions of games exist. And that if there’s a console version I tend to just ignore the hand held ones because, let’s face it, are they ever better than the console version anyway? Especially with a series like Turok that’s built around being a first person shooter on a screen that can show really good colors that’s also bigger than 2 square inches. That’s like 5 square centimeters for all of my listeners not in the US.

Blair Farrell from Comic Gamers Assemble is here to help me see if my thought process even has any merit to it as we take a look at 5 different Turok handheld ports and see how they actually play without having to worry about those pesky home console games that always hog the spotlight.

Learn such things as:

  • How do you even port these games down anyway?
  • Why didn’t they just make a different handheld universe like TMNT?
  • How are these games rated E?
  • Why does Chris know conversions from inches to centimeters? Just kidding, that’s because he’s trying to go live in New Zealand.
  • And so much more!

Spawn for Game Boy Color with Adam Higgins (Odd Dad Out)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Spawn was an interesting character for me growing up, and I’ll bet I’m not the only one. I could recognize him no problem. I’m pretty sure I knew that he was a comic character. But I couldn’t have told you anything about him besides things that you could guess from his appearance.

Listen in as Adam Higgins from Odd Dad Out comes to reminisce about a childhood idea of Spawn and the hilarity of having an E rated Spawn game.

Learn such things as:

  • How do Adam and Chris and basically everyone Chris was friends with growing up know Spawn?
  • Is Todd going to come give Chris and Adam a dirty look?
  • What major innovation does this game have going for it seemingly out of nowhere?
  • And so much more!

Batman Beyond Return of the Joker with Dan McMahon and Jake McMahon (DC SuperSons)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Alright, so we’ve looked at a lot of Batman. Like a lot. So let’s take a look at future Batman. Except not Bruce because it’s the future and Bruce is old and tired, you know, all the other things that old people are.

Listen in as Dan and Jake McMahon from DC Supersons come on the show to talk about Batman Beyond, the future of super heroing, and fuzzy good boys.

Learn such things as:

  • How much sleep does a super hero need anyway?
  • Do people really think that the same person has been Batman for all these years?
  • When are we going to get a good movie based game?
  • And so much more!

Scud the Disposable Assassin with Brandon Cruz (Rick and Morty Podcast, Submitted For Approval, Apathetic Enthusiasm)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

The 1990s were a fun time in comics. A lot of the indie comics from the 80s had either run their course or were brought into one of the major publishers. But the indies still existed, and Scud the Disposable Assassin was one of those that came out.

Listen in as Brandon Cruz from Interdimensional RSS comes to talk about how a comic that not a lot of us have probably heard of have lead to (what he and tons of other people have told me) what is one of the best animated things in existence.

Learn such things as:

  • How did this not catch on?
  • Why didn’t Chris get Rob Schrab to come on the show? Hint, Chris didn’t ask because he’s a big baby.
  • What life lessons can you learn from a robot that refuses to kill a being when that is the entire purpose of robot’s existence, and how can you use that lesson to help make yourself a better person overall?
  • And so much more!

Dragon Ball GT Final Bout with Eli Sirota (The Not So Crazy Podcast of Blizzard the Wizard and Eli)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Oh, you thought that we were done with Dragon Ball related stuff did you? Or that the manga ending meant that the anime would end too. Well jokes on you because there’s a whole different anime series that was only inspired by the manga and of course we got a game to go with that too. Like it or not.

Listen in as Eli Sirota from The Not So Crazy Podcast of Blizzard the Wizard and Eli comes by to look at Dragon Ball GT Final Bout and give us another dose of why the Dragon Ball franchise is so well loved by its fans. When it does things right anyway.

Learn such things as:

  • Where did Dragon Ball GT come from anyway?
  • Aren’t licensing rights fun?
  • So wait, this game was made after Ultimate Battle 22?
  • And so much more!
