AMA #1 Hosted by Karrington Martin

Facebooktwitterredditmail

I figured it was time to get some questions answered, so here’s a rather unedited take on that. Frequent guest Karrington Martin from Real Dudes Podcast graciously agreed to host the show so that you could hear something besides me asking myself questions because let’s face it, that could get kind of weird.

A big thanks to the following people for sending in questions:

This was fun and I definitely plan on doing it again.

X-Men for Game Gear with Devin Warner (Multiversal Q/Exiled)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Have I told you yet that in the 1990s you couldn’t escape the X-Men if you tried? Because you couldn’t. They literally were everywhere. And there was nothing we could do about it.

Listen in as Devin Warner from Multiversal Q and Exiled comes on the show to talk about the first X-Men game for Game Gear.

Learn such things as:

  • Why does it have the same name as the classic Genesis game? Just kidding we don’t know that either.
  • What little concept did they actually do well with when picking characters?
  • Is it even possible for batteries to last long enough to beat this thing?
  • And so much more!

Spider-Man with Paul Csomo (Varmints)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

One of the things that I really love about Spider-Man is how big the cast of other characters is, especially the crossover with other Marvel heroes. Maybe some of that is because he’s the first place I really saw that.

And maybe some of why the first Spider-Man game for PS1 is my all time favorite Spider-Man game in the whole world no question is because it’s the first one I really got to play through over and over and over. Listen in as Paul Csomo from Varmints joins the show to finally talk about what is possibly the game that I get asked about doing the most. Easily top 3 worst case.

Learn such things as:

  • Have Paul’s feelings about Rhino changed?
  • What’s the point of having all those different suits?
  • Does anyone even care that this one came out for Game Boy Color?
  • And much more!

X-Men Gamemaster’s Legacy with L.W. Salinas

Facebooktwitterredditmail

The X-Men prove once again that they were such a powerhouse franchise in the 1990s. And when you get to combine a few different story arcs into a single game it has to be good, or at least interesting.

Listen in as L.W. Salinas joins the show to prove how that’s not really the case at all with Gamemaster’s Legacy for the Sega Game Gear.

Learn such things as:

  • What has X-Men really done better than most other comic franchises?
  • Will this finally be the game where you can’t play as Wolverine?
  • How much slack can we give this one just because it was on the Game Gear?
  • And much more!

X-Men Mojo World with Zack Jenkins (Battle of the Atom)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

X-Men is a weird universe anyway. You can fit in just about environment in. You can have just about any kind of character you want. Basically you can do whatever you want and it’ll make sense. There’s a reason why “Because X-Men” is a valid explanation for just about anything.

Then Mojo World just flips everything on it’s head. And here we have a wonderful Game Ge- oh who am I kidding it’s Game Gear. Listen in as Zack Jenkins from Battle of the Atom joins the show and we try not to throw up.

Learn such things as:

  • Why even use Mojo if you’re not really going to use Mojo?
  • How do we really feel about the Game Gear? You’ll never guess….
  • Who thinks that it’s a good idea to have your mutant powers drain?
  • And so much more!

Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter with Justin Williams (SuperTangent)

Facebooktwitterredditmail

We’re creeping up to the big boys here, this time stopping by Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. And once again, we get a stripped down version on PlayStation that takes out tag team but at least this time gives you extra modes to make up for it. If that makes up for it is up to you.

Listen in as Justin Williams from SuperTangent joins the show to take a look at Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and we try not to cry about the lack of Sega awesomeness in our childhoods.

Learn such things as:

  • Why do we never get the Saturn versions HOLY CRAP SEGA YOU HAD ONE JOB WHY DO YOU HATE US?
  • Is the roster here lazy or efficient?
  • Why do we get no female characters but stupid Wolverine and Cyclops can be in this one even though they’ve been in every Capcom Marvel fighter so far?
  • And so much more!

A big thanks to Luke from Luke Who’s Talking as well as Michael from Murder Mile for the promos today.
