Twenty years ago, American cinemas were rocked by one of the best overall years in movie history. Legends Podcast has celebrated the Legends of ‘99 all year long, and now we’re wrapping up with our most favorite films of the year.

 

Next, Wing brings us the all star cast of 1999’s lone superhero movie, Mystery Men. Yes, based on the Dark Horse title Flaming Carrot Comics, this was the only notable comic book movie in one of the greatest years of cinematic history. Mystery Men simultaneously predicted the next twenty years of box office hits and failed to make any money whatsoever, grossing less than half its overall budget. But is this film ahead of its time, or is the only mystery here why we’re mentioning it in the same breath as the best films of ‘99?
