On October 2, 2016, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Wales, BAFTA Cymru will be honoring Terry Jones, actor/writer/cofounder of MONTY PYTHON, with the BAFTA Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television. Aside from his work with Monty Python, Jones has published poetry, directed everything from THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES to Disney’s Live Action MR. TOAD’S WILD RIDE, and written countless teleplays and screenplays, including the screenplay to the beloved Bowie/Muppet fantasy LABYRINTH.
In a letter from a representative of Mr. Jones, amid the thanks for this prestigious award, it was also revealed that Terry Jones “has been diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a variant of Frontotemporal Dementia. This illness affects his ability to communicate and he is no longer able to give interviews. Terry is proud and honoured to be recognised in this way and is looking forward to the celebrations.”
