It’s the end of an era for a division of MTV which geeks have come to love and follow regularly. MTV Geek announced today through a simple post that they’ll be closing down. Over the years MTV Geek has offered a variety of content from articles based on hilarious geek-related internet memes to some extensive comic book convention coverage.
The announcement came somewhat suddenly with fresh content being created as early as yesterday. MTV Geek’s post indicates that the regular news portion of MTV will continue to offer some geek related content. Here’s the official announcement…

Well there’s goes MTV removing some of their only valid content so they can focus more on pathetic reality TV and turning young idiots and awful people into pseudo-celebs. It’s just sad. MTV was a powerhouse channel in my youth, now it’s just a joke.
Couldn’t have said it better.
The worst part is that it’s still considered a powerhouse by some kids today. They think Teen Mom and Rednecks Go Muddin is good quality programming.
