This week I read about a family from Guelph, Ontario who have abandoned all technology and turned the clock back to 1986… at least in their house. Blair McMillan and his girlfriend Morgan Patey decided they’d strip their family of everything post 1986 – except for in their day jobs of course.
Blair said that he noticed a number of “red flags” watching his children grow up attached to technology and he decided something needed to be done. The family has been growing accustom to the low-tech life, even recently taking a trip across the US using a… *gulp*… map. The family also has a policy that guest must check post 1986-tech at the door when they enter their house.
While the children understandably had difficulty adjusting to this new-found life, current reports are that the family has grown closer, bonding over simple activities like eating breakfast together and playing outdoors. The family plans to stay stuck in 1986 until April 2014, but you have to wonder if a certain part of 1986 will stay with the family forever.
Did… Did he have to grow a mullet?
There’s nothing wrong with the 80s I know another of people that lives lives like its the 80s and have modern tech combine with 80s tech and in the 2980s community in 2023 we have at least 400 people
