Reports of security issues with Twitter accounts seem to have been on the rise over the last several months and it appears Twitter has had enough. Twitter announced that it’s added an option for two-step authentication to help prevent accounts from being compromised.
When a user enables the verification option on their account, Twitter will send a six-digit code text message when the account is signed into on a new device. While the procedure is not mandatory it is definitely a step in the right direction for such a high profile social media site.
Of course even with the extra security Twitter does point ou that you’ll still need to follow good security practices “Of course, even with this new security option turned on, it’s still important for you to use a strong password and follow the rest of our advice for keeping your account secure”. Have you enabled your extra security?

OH THANK GOODNESS! This is waaaaay overdue. It seems like everything is getting hacked these days. I’m doing this right now!
I agree 100%. Twitter has always seemed to be a little behind the times when it comes to security…
Its about time, not that I have had problems with twitter being hacked, But I am glad to see they are doing something…
It is about time, but I wish they would support more than text messaging. For instance google will let you set things up for 2 step verification if you have no phone access. This is done with temporary use token passwords you can keep in a wallet. But at least Twitter did a much better job with 2 step verification than Apple!
