The best thing I saw last week was the final installment of Edgar Wright’s much ballyhooed Cornetto Trilogy, The World’s End. Edgar Wright brings back his boys Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and set off this trilogy ender to end all enders with a bang!
It’s all here people. The quick cuts, the great quips, the fence, and fight sequences with choreography that rivals Scott Pilgrim. Wright brings up a great wrap bookend to the trilogy by presenting a movie that feels more grown up in the technical aspects of film making but still retaining all the juvenile humor that you want with one of his films. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost both give amazing performances, for large spans of the film I actually wasn’t thinking of them as Shaun and Ed which for me says a lot. Plus when you take the basis of a story being a pub crawl and you somehow mix in an alien invasion it guarantees a good time.
If you’re a fan of Edgar Wright’s films or of any of the work Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, or Martin Freeman than get out and see this while it’s still in theaters. The special effects alone are worth the price of admission. Get out, grab a couple friends, grab a brew or two, and go see it.
