With Nintendo struggling to find a solid market for the Wii U but also finding their hand-held device (Nintendo 3DS) a hit, it’s no wonder why the company announced some changes together.
Yesterday Nintendo officially announced that effective September 20th the Wii U deluxe set will be reduced from $349.99 to $299.99 – they’ll also have a bundle of the Wii U featuring The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the same price. The new Nintendo 2DS will sell for $129.99 and will play all DS and 3DS games (minus the 3D graphics). Similar to DS models of the past, the 2DS has two screens but this item does not fold up.
Although a spike in development over the last couple years, generally the consumer-at-home 3D appeal had started to fade which seems to be supported by this product launch by Nintendo.
