Facebooktwitterredditmail

A mission gone awry leaves Deadpool and Howard the Duck sharing Howard’s wee duck body. Hi-jinx ensue.

PRESS RELEASE:

Marvel’s Mallard with the Mouth Lands this January

New York, NY—November 29th, 2016 — What do you get when you take one cynical anthropomorphic duck
(named Howard) and cross it with the smelliest (and most annoying) mercenary in the Marvel Universe? DEADPOOL THE DUCK #1! Coming to comic shops and digital devices everywhere on Janurary 4th, its high-stakes avian antics as two of Marvel’s most beloved, and crass, heroes merge for an all-new series brought to you by Stuart Moore (CLOAK & DAGGER, THANOS: DEATH SENTENCE Novel) and Jacopo Camagni (DEADPOOL’s SECRET SECRET WARS).

When Deadpool is sent on a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D. to capture a high-profile E.T. that is rampaging across the high plains, the snatch-and-grab turns out to be much more complicated than the Merc with a Mouth anticipated. One unfortunate wrong place at the wrong time accident later leaves Deadpool and Howard fighting for control as the newest mercenary of the Marvel Universe!

So strap in, break out your chimichangas and crusty bread scraps and hang on! Because you’re in for: rabid raccoons, secret laboratories, cramped spaceships, evil corporations, gastric distress, and S.H.I.E.L.D. Did we mention that’s only issue one?! Flap your wings over to your local comic shop on January 4th to get your hands on DEADPOOL THE DUCK #1!

Marvel/Star Wars top March Sales Charts

Facebooktwitterredditmail

Marvel owned the March Sales charts, with their new STAR WARS titles dominating the Top Ten. In fact, only one DC title, the video game tie-in BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT placed in the top ten.

That’s right, folks, HOWARD THE DUCK #1 ( #7 on the chart) sold more copies than each and every DC title that month.

Check out the release for more info.

(BALTIMORE, MD) — (April 10, 2015) — Star Wars‘ Leia Organa must look after the needs of her people in the aftermath of Alderaan’s destruction in Mark Waid and Terry Dodson’s Princess Leia #1 from Marvel Comics, the best-selling comic book of March 2015 according to information provided by Diamond Comic Distributors, the world’s largest distributor of comics, graphic novels, and pop culture merchandise.

Marvel Comics had four graphic novels in the top ten, led by G. Willow Wilson’s Ms. Marvel Volume 2: Generation Why at #2. Also with four titles in the top ten was Image Comics; their best-selling book in March was Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini’s Low Volume 1: The Delirium of Hope at #3.

Diamond Select Toys had six products in March’s top ten, including the Marvel Select: Cable Action Figure at #2 and the Ghostbusters: Burnt Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man Bank #4.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which includes the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from sales made to thousands of comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world.  Additional sales made to online merchants and other specialty retailers may be included as well.

Unit and dollar market shares are calculated based upon orders for comic books, graphic novels, and magazines invoiced and shipped to Diamond customers during any given month, which comprises pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable. Please note that comics marked with an asterisk (*) have had their reported quantities reduced due to retailer returnability, and thus may rank lower on the charts than their actual sales would reflect.

The New Titles Count Chart includes all titles that were invoiced by Diamond to retailers for the first time during the month and is not the official solicited title count for the month. Variant edition comic books and graphic novels at the same price point count as a single SKU. Variant edition comic books, lenticular covers, digital combo packs, and graphic novels at different price points count as separate SKUs for each edition.

HOWARD THE DUCK returns to comics!

Facebooktwitterredditmail

That’s right! You LOVED him in the seventies! George Lucas made you hate him in the eighties! GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY made you love him again with a post credits scene last year, and now MARVEL is moving on that!

Howard the Duck is getting an ongoing series from writer Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals, Original Sins) and artist Joe Quinones (Savage Wolverine, Harley Quinn)!

Earlier today, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY broke the news with an interview, and then MARVEL sent a press release (see below). (So, really I’m reporting on other people’s reporting, ain’t the internet grand?)

The new series will feature Howard as an every man (every duck?) Private Eye within the Marvel Universe. As with the original run, strangeness will ensue. Zdarsky promises lighter, fun moments amid the serious stuff.  Quinones has done some tweaking to the character, to make him look more pseudo-realistic and less cartoony. Something a little closer to the Howard we saw in Guardians.

I don’t know about you, but I’m psyched already!!

The Quack is Back! HOWARD THE DUCK #1 is Coming!
New Ongoing Series Launching This March!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. But who needs turkey, when you can have a little duck?! That’s right – he’s back! The fabulous fowl. The web-footed wonder. The denizen of Duckworld. The one and only HOWARD THE DUCK! And he’s coming to you this March for HOWARD THE DUCK #1 – a brand new ongoing series from writer Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals, Original Sins) and artist Joe Quinones (Savage Wolverine, Harley Quinn)!

Straight from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy…post-credits scene comes the comic book return of the Marvel Universe’s most satirical sort. Join him as he takes on the Marvel Universe’s strangest cases only a talking duck can quack as New York City’s newest private investigator! New York City is full of the strange and the weird – a talking duck gumshoe shouldn’t be that much of a shocker!

Of the title’s new direction, Howard the Duck Editor Wil Moss said “We’re thrilled to be bringing Howard back to the stands! The stuff Chip & Joe have planned for this series…well, to be honest, I don’t know if we’ll be able to publish most of it. But the stuff that does clear with legal is going to be amazing! Plus there’ll be some backup stories starting in issue #2 by a dream-team of guest contributors — a lot of people are eager to take a shot at this duck!”

Be there when Howard the Duck ventures through the Marvel Universe, trapped in a world he’s become accustomed to as he takes on the Black Cat, She-Hulk and mysterious forces from outer space! Plus maybe even a Guardian of the Galaxy or two! (Mmmmmaybe.)

Howard’s just a regular guy…who also happens to be a duck. Don’t miss his tour through the Marvel Universe when HOWARD THE DUCK #1 comes to comic shops and digital devices this coming March. WAUGH!
