The series premiere of Agents of SHIELD put up great numbers on Tuesday night. According to Entertainment Weekly the show delivered 11.9 million viewers and a 4.6 adults 18-49 rating. Those are insane numbers when you consider the fact that in the US it went up against the NBC powerhouse The Voice and longtime hit on CBS NCIS.
Its a little inside baseball but lets talk numbers some more. Agents of SHIELD managed to tie The Voice in overall demo and actually beat it during the 8 o’clock hour. Agents also crushed NCIS and its 3.4 win the demo, but there were more viewers overall on NCIS.
For a freshman show with no lead-in these numbers are fantastic. In fact its been years since a brand new show had numbers this high. In fact EW stated that this was the highest rated dram debut in nearly 4 years. Care to guess which show put up those huge numbers back in November 2009? In 2009 it was ABC’s V that put up huge numbers. Let hope Agents of SHIELD doesn’t suffer the same fate as V. Fingers crossed, right true believers?

I enjoyed it. Was hoping for Rage but not unhappy to see more Extremis, as it makes sense to bring in the Iron Man 3 audience. I’m excited to see where they go this season. Coulson was pimptastic!
